Hi,

any suggestions on which island to pick after at the end of our journey around Malaysia for relaxing on the white sand beach, snorkeling, swimming...

It would be best if it would be around Kota Kinabalu , as we leave from KK airport heading home on our last day around 4 p.m. The second option is any islands near Sandakan (Lankayan, others?)

Also, what would be the approximate cost for a decent 3*-4* hotel (with AC) for 3-4 nights.

Any suggestion/tips will be much appreciated. Reply to this

Hello Slokii;

There is few beautiful islands near KK. I cant remmber the names, it's only 20 minutes by boat. I think it's Tunku Abdul Rahman Park. Ask your hotel / guest house reception there.

About the second option, I would highly recommend you Sipadan Island. You are not allowed to stay in Sipadan, but all the toursit agencies would do their trips to Sipadan in that area.

4 **** hotel, will cost you around 200 RM per night in KL. Prices might be slightley diferent depend on the season /areas.

Ray,
thanks for the suggestions. However, I would like to stay on an island for 3-4 nights. So, Sipadan is not an option...

Hi Slokii,

You can either opt for the Manukan Island Resort (one of the islands as mentioned earlier by Ray) which is operated by Sutera Sanctuary Lodges, an entity of Sutera Harbour Resort or the Dinawan Island Resort, an entity of Mount Kinabalu Adventurous Tours.

For Sandakan, either Lankayan or the Selingan Turtle Islands would be a good choice. Both islands are excellent for rest and relaxation.

A decent 3-4 stars hotel - try this boutique hotel in KK - DBorneo hotel or its sister hotel, the Seri Borneo hotel. For more upper class, of course there is the Kinabalu Daya Hotel, now part of the Best Western Chain of Hotels.

Have a great time in Malaysia! Reply to this

i am from sandakan...
well i would prefer KK if u ask me..
sandakan is just for the orang utans itself.
sandkan has not much to offer..u must take boat or bus to go to next closeby towns.
Semporna is great.... and u mustalso go Sukau to look at the only species monkey, call the proboscis...
u can only see them in sukau...
and no where else..
selingan is where u can see the turtles lay eggs which i don encourage..
human should leave the animals alone ^_^
