Hi, I am doing a round the world trip with a friend in October and part of the trip means we have to get from Thailand down to Bali. Any suggestions of the best way to do this? Preferably a scenic route.
Many thanks
Reply to this The fastest and really cheap with AirAsia BKK - KL and then Bali. Worth of checking. www.airasia.com

I think we had scheduled anything between 2 and 4 weeks.
Thanks

Hey
Were you thinking of something like:
down through the South of Thailand, perhaps some beach time on the Islands,
Over the border into Malaysia, down through Malaysia to Singapore.
Then either over to Sumatra or Java. You can get to both from there. You could travel along Sumatra, over to Java and through Java to Bali. Or just along Java to Bali.
It's possible to do this journey in 4 weeks. You won't spend long in each place; there will be a lot of travelling.
If you want to spend longer in one place, or only have 2 weeks, you could consider flying some of the journeys. There are lots of budget airlines in SE Asia. You could fly to Singapore from many places in mainland Malaysia and Thailand with Tiger Airways or Air Asia.
You could consider concentrating on some areas, like Southern Thailand, beaches and Islands and Malaysia, then flying from Singapore to Bali, missing out the rest of Indonesia. Or flying from Bangkok to Kuala Lumpur and concentrating on Malaysia and Indonesia.
There is obviously Borneo too, you can fly to Kota Kinabalu or Kuching on Borneo from KL.
What sort of thing do you want to do? Beaches, jungle, trekking, cities.......Which countries most interest you?
Have you got a copy of a guidebook to SE Asia, Lonely Planet or Rough Guide? These will be a lot of help as they suggest routes and places you can visit.
Hope this helps.
Kate
