Friends we are flying into Colombia in March 2010 and then we fly out of Rio 4 months later - could you tell us the best places to party hard in South America please?

Also where would you recommend we go to the jungle?

Final question friends we are looking at 4 months to get from Colombia - Rio, how much spending money would you recommend and which countries are more expensive than others?

Many thanks! Have fun Reply to this

the big cities and the small beachside towns that are over run by tourists are generally the places where you can party hardest.

ie.
santa marta, medellin,cali,bogota,
montanita
lima,cusco
la paz
santiago, viña del mar
buenos aires

sprry i have not done an actual jungle trip, but i was in pucallpa in peru and had a good time there, incidentally its a good place to party!
they do jungle trips from there.
also i have heard the bolivian jungle trips are good and cheaper.

peru and colombia can be both extremely cheap and quite expensive depending on where you choose to eat/sleep/drink... you will see what i mean when you get there.

ecuador and bolivia have much more of the cheap options and less of the expensive ones.

chile and uruguay have very few cheap options.

argentina can be surprisingly cheap and good quality, though it can also be expensive to party in buenos aires.

how much spending money?
1000 dollars is nice if you have it.

but ,remember you are going to be partying a lot so... ask the bank for a very large overdraft! :D

There is an amazing club in Medellin playing banging techno with a big retractable roof for when the sun comes up. This club was absolutely out of control when I went there - in a good way! The El Poblado area of Medellin is good for partying too

Some good places in Bogota too but I didnt go to any of them - Cha Cha is supposed to be great and its on the 42nd floor of an office block with some great views of the city.

Not sure when Carnival is in 2010 (depends on when easter falls, but will be either late feb or early march) but if you are in Colombia when it is on go to Barranquilla for it on the north coast. The party to end all parties.

Other great party locations: Taganga in Colombia, Mancora in northern Peru (especially if you stay at the Point hostel!), Cuzco (go to Mama Africa's and Uptown clubs), Lima is quite good for partying if nothing else, there are some fun places in La Paz, Pacha in Buenos Aires is great, and Lapa in Rio.

Have fun!

There's a club called Caix in Buenos Aires, open only on Sundays from 8am until 6pm for those who dont want to finish partying after the other clubs close. There's an outdoor dance floor as well overlooking a beach, it's really funny, you see these families out picnicing on sunday afternoon staring in confusion at all the ravers dancing away just above them Reply to this
