What are the best spots for a week or so relaxing after spending a few weeks doing the nature/adventure aspects of Malaysia?

Hi Everyone

I'm going to be spending a month (July-August) in Malaysia and am trying to put together an itinerary (yes I know they're for geeks). I want to do a few cities (KL, Singapore + ...?), some nature/adventure (Taman Negara, Mt Kinabalu...) and want to spend the last week relaxing so would be grateful for suggestions of where to do it! I've heard the Perhentians are good but also a bit touristy? Not that I want to be in the middle of nowhere but a nice balance....? Thanks so much for all suggections 😊

Love, peace and grease

Hi Miraz,

Since you are planning a month long trip and still putting together an itinerary then I would suggest going to the Malaysia tourism website - dont think I can put the site URL here.

However, they have option of customized itineraries and standard travel packages. They offer a lot of water sports, safaris, camping options, treks, etc

That should help you put together a plan

Some really nice beaches are - Penang / Pulau Redang / Pangkor Island and Langkawi. Reply to this

Sabah is a great place for adventure, nature and of course relaxation. Be it climbing Mt. Kinabalu, cruising the rivers in search of wildlife or just lazing on the beach, the state of Sabah offers "eco treasures from mountain high to ocean deep". And the best way to experience all of that is to take the time and go around on your own (forget the itinerary if possible).

For more details on what and where to go, check out Sabah Tourism or Tourism Malaysia.

If you need extra information for a particular place, note it down here so that individuals from that area or others who have been there can provide precise details, therefore helping you realise your ideal holiday.

Have a great time.

Hi there,

Agree with Charlie, Sabah is an amazing place! and it actually offers some paradisiac islands too...check out Mabul (next to Sipadan) for some pristine beach/ clear water/ amazing diving spots!

Have fun,

Hey, thanks all for your comments - Sabah certainly seems to be the place to go... I'll certainly be paying it a visit. I'd ideally like to end up nearer to Singapore though as thats's where I fly out from. Anyone any ideas for beaches not too far away from there? I've heard Malacca is good...?

Thanks again

No..Most of the beaches located on the western coast of Malaysia (Except Pangkor Laut/ Tg Rhu at Langkawi) are not crystal clear but muddy!

For crystal clear water, you need to goto the east coast islands of Perhentian, Redang, Kapas & Tioman. The closest such islands to Singapore is Tioman which is located opposite Mersing in the Northeastern state of Johor about 150KM away from Singapore

Malacca beaches are so-so only. Reply to this

Hi,

I second stimix on the Western coast. I did Pangkor Laut, and that was an AMAZING place, but the best beach is on a private island which is more of a honeymoon type of place.

Tioman is fun and much more basic, and very easy to reach...fw hours bus from Sing or KL, than you take the boat. You can also fly direct to there from Sin or KL.

For Perhentian, Iwill be there in few weeks, so will be able to tell you after that.
