Hey, my name\'s Ian, I\'m 20/M/Canada and I\'m planning a backpacking trip through Central America (Belize, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Costa Rica) in Sept-Dec. 2006. I\'m wondering if anybody has any advice for a first-time backpacker, and even better, if anybody might be travelling around there around that time, cause any company on the road would be great!!

Well I am not going backpacking in Central America at that time or I would love to have you as company.
But I did just start I new Central American travel website that may be able to help answer some of your questions. Like I said I just started it so there isn't a ton of information on it yet but there is somewhere around 30 pages of useful travel information mostly for those looking to travel to central america. And there are links to other sites as well, so you should be able to find what you are looking for.
