Buying Contact Lenses in South America.
Hi,
i going to South America again and i was wondering how easy it is to obtain daily contact lenses there? In most countries(1st world) you need a prescription but would i need that in say Argentina or Bolivia or could i buy them over the counter (like you can buy sleeping tablets without prescription in bolivia)?
Also if anyone has any knowledge about the prices and quality of lenses that would be helpful too?
Thanks!!
Reply to this You can buy almost anything over the counter in South America. I was surprised that things like insulin, asthma drugs and other things that would normally need a presecription in Europe were being given out without prescription by pharmacists. I don't know for certain about lenses but I would imagine it's very likely.
Reply to this Chile, Argentina, Peru, Ecuador, no problem, just make sure you're in big city. The capitals for sure. In Bolivia, i don't check it but the better parts of Santa Cruz or La Paz probably have.
Reply to this In most countries it shouldn't be any problem and in those that there is a problem you just have to keep on looking until you find one that sells over the counter. BUT they're not cheap! You will pay at least what you pay back home (Europe for me). The fluid is more expensive. Monthlenses is a better choice and it's no problem with it that's just bullshit well it's more work but for the prive it's worth it.
