Hello Ryan 😊

You will need a ticket out of many countries in order to be allowed to enter them. Some airlines also insist that you have a ticket out of the destination before you board the plane.

If you are on a tight budget there are much more economical places to visit than the US. What about S. America instead or Africa? And it would surely be less expensive for you to fly to Australia or New Zealand than all the way to the States.

If you have enough money for a round the world ticket that might be worth considering.

The cheapest way to buy tickets is usually on the internet because you wouldnt have to pay a travel agents fee. Buy them as much in advance as possible and be flexible about which day and date you fly to get the best deals.

The internet search engine I usually use to get cheap long haul flights is http://www.billigfluege.de/ Change it to English by clicking on the US flag.

Hi Ryan,

I've never been asked to show proof of onward travel when coming into Japan, but I think you are sposed to have it.

In case you weren't aware, Japan now fingerprints and photographs all incoming foreign nationals.

Buy the tickets as much in advance as you can and then you will get the best deals. I think they are sold up to 11 months before the flight date.

Maybe somebody can post here as a guideline what one can expect to pay for a cheap ticket from Japan to the US?
