15 years ago, August 24th 2008 No: 1 Msg: #46586
Hi
I have 9 days to travel with my brother. I am at uni in Singapore, so he is flying here first, then we wanted to travel some of Malaysia in that time.
Im not sure what is best to do/go.
I have been told we hould go to KL, and Tioman, are there any other good islands, not to far North, that you can suggest? Or just anything at all we should do??!!
Thank you! Reply to this

I have details and pictures of Tioman in my blog...
There are a few good beaches in Malaysia actually but I have yet to go there.
But what I heard is places like Redang & Perhentian are expensive.
If you have yet to go KL, please do...cos it's their capital of course..
Genting , 1hr drive from KL, has good weather... in comparison to Singapore's.
Penang is one of my fave places in Malaysia..maybe you can try it out too..

Oh! I left this out... If you want to travel cheap, take a coach..
There are many...

Hi maudebarrow,

You've made a good first choice on planning to visit Malaysia. The second choice now would be to identify your interest; what do you expect to see and plan to do in Malaysia. That way you'll bound to enjoy all your 7 days in Malaysia without fail.

As I'm located in Sabah, this state is literally a great playgroud for outdoor activities like rafting, scuba diving and of course mountain-climbing. The perseverence of culture can be seen over the northen-tip of the island of Borneo where opting to staying in longhouses is the best way to go. Wildlife adventure is also another must-do in Sabah's intinerary. You can visit the proboscis monkeys and its other cousins in a river cruise about 1 1/2 hours drive from Kota Kinabalu City. If you want the real deal, take a 40min flight or 5hours coach ride over to the east coast of Sabah; the gateway to the Turtle Islands Park and Sukau along the Kinabatangan river - this is where the widlife comes out to play in their natural environment.

Which ever your decisions may be, I'm sure you'll enjoy your visit to Malaysia. Have a good one!
