What makes a better finish line... Europe or Central America?

Where to start and where to finish a year-long journey? That is the question.

Hello Experienced Travelers!

I am starting to plan my year-long trip around the world and I am wondering if I should start in Central America (Costa Rica) or Europe (UK- I plan on working here for 2 months). I'm certain that I want to travel through Central & South America, Europe, and North Africa. I might add China, India, or Thailand to that list.

Is it more rewarding to arrive in Europe at the end of a long trip and plan that part of the trip with the remaining funds or gain solo travel experience in Europe and gradually work my way back home to the USA through more budget savvy regions like Central & South America?

Hello Marsha 😊

It may actually be rewarding to arrive in Europe after Asia or Africa. A familiar(or almost familiar to those from US, Australia....) can be a nice treat after several months in for example India.
