I will be traveling to Japan in August of this year. I will be staying with a friend for a couple days. Then heading for Fukushima to stay with her parents. What type of clothing would be appropriate. They will most likely be more conservative in dress and I don't want to offend.

Would shorts, skorts, capris, and nice shirts be ok. What colors are appropriate and any other suggestions. Thank you all.

Reply to this im in kyoto right now...everyone is in regular western clothing. i have not seen any japanese ladies wearing shorts or tank tops and such but western girls and tourists do it and no one seems to have a problem. right now japan is extremely hot and humid and i can only imagine august will be worse...so if i were you i would plan on shorts and stuff
