PARTY PARTY PARTY! if you came to Punta del este, then you are either a rich spoilt argetinian/brazilian/uruguyan with too much money...or you are a backpacker in search for a PARTY!!!
this place has parties going on 7 days a week. i thought the parties start late in BA, but this place no one shows up before 3am. so u can understand, i spent many of my days sleeping my hangovers away!!
Stayed in a cool hostel called Hostel 1949. however, it was the most expensive hostel ive paid for in south america, and strangely also one of the worst!!! we had 9 people cramped into the space of what should fit no more than 6 people uncomfortably!
Walking through the main district was like something u would see in Beverly Hills iN US. designer shops, nice cafe, trendy hang outs, parks...really not what you would expect to find in Uruguay! but then again, Punta Del Este is not really representative of Uruguay!
The beaches were admittedly ordinary. But it was people watching at its finest. we beached
Chovito
the classic Uruguayan dish...its a steak sandwich...but its no ordinary sandwich!! it has everything perfect in a sandwich. steak, lettuce, tomato, ham, bacon, egg, and melted mozarella cheese!!! hmmm ourselves usually on Bikini beah, filled with beautiful people, designer sunglasses, and everyone is young! the waves were like nothing else id seen. you had to run between waves just to make it in the water before the next wave came crashing and annhiliating you!
the clubs..were awesome! party central mainly in the month of january. people clearly had money here and werent afraid to show it. the prices to get in were even expensive in australian standards. there were some clubs that expected you to pay US$50....i would never even pay that in australia! we hit the bars instead and the clubs that our hostel would give us free entry for. We headed to one club called CROWBAR. definitely one of the best clubs i´d been to in South America. different rooms, one main dance room, where on the saturday nigth, the International DJ - ERIC MORILLO- played to a full capacity of revellers. It was mad! it was crazy! the guy definitely knew how to work up the people! awesome lights....the vibe was electric! danced till close time at 7am, and could have partied for longer. the music gave u the energy! oh...and
The hand
its coming out of the sand! help...the big people are finally rising from inside earth! we saw Tara Reid, the girl from teh first american pie. she was in the booth with the DJ. no doubt there is something going on there! its also amazing to see how much work goes into the stars to make them look good and young! cause she looked like shit that night!
Punta Del Este was also a very sad parting for alot of us. people i had known and travelled with for over a month (Elliot and Ober) and some since BA. thanx for all the memories!
