Not sure who will be reading this other than me & And......?

After a very long journey from London to Lima via a five hour stop in Madrid (Inc a 3 hour delay) we arraived at our first destaintion...the first of possibly 14 countries....

So, Lima what we can we say? We have been staying in Barranco, a rather nice little area overlooking the Pacific Ocean. Miraflores is the bigger, more well known area about half an hours walk away, either along the beach or along the cliff tops.. either is a pretty cool walk. Our hostel is fine and the people all seem friendly enough. A promising start.

Central Lima is another matter. We got a cab ride there on wedesday and were in town for about 2 hours before cabbing straight back to Miraflores.. There was one central plaza the guide books told us to see (Plaza Major) but this had severly restricted access by the Policia (not totally sure why.. either a visting Bolivian dignity or some demonstartions that we didn´t see) and wasn´t really anything speacial anyway. So we started to look for the Inca art museum... couldn´t find it despite walking through busy car filled streets and go so overloaded with the constant traffic.. we gave in and went for drinks back in Miraflores..

Today we leave Lima and head by coach to Cuzco where we go on a four day trek to Machu Picchu next Thursday.. both a bit concerened about fitness and altitude sickness, hence getting to cusco early.. it´s supposed to be a nicer place anyway.. more cosmopolitan..

We shall see.

America we then visit New Zealand, Australia, Singapore and Indonesia, before heading up through SE Asia to Hong Kong and Shanghai. Both old enough to know better.... both getting very excited... full info
