Left Lima after a couple of days and headed north to the mountains. Huaraz is a fantastic town sat between the Cordillera Negra and the Cordillera Blanca (which have the highest peaks in Peru). Huaraz is far less frantic than Lima, although still a lot of hooting, an incredible number of fireworks and continous brass band music (which sounds good at first until you realise that they all play the same tune over and over...). After acclimitising to the altitude (a little) by doing a 1 day walk we headed into the mountains for a 4 day trek. It was just spectacular - glaciers, snow capped peaks, glacial lakes etc. Hard walking because of the amount of kit we were carrying, the altitude and the steepness of the trails - I am not sure in quite ... read more

Ma sikerult 1500/1000 m szintet (ossz/sajat ero) lekuzdve feljutnom 4450 m-re, egy gyonyoru tengerszemhez, a szep Isabell es a szivos Jose tarsasagaban. A civilizaciobol kijutas soran is uj rekordot dontottunk, egy Toyota Hiace-ba 19-en utaztunk belul, 5-en a teton. Visszafele csak 16-an voltunk. Plusz pogyaszok. A bujdosas par napot csuszik akutt hegyi betegseg miatt. ... read more

Es remek kepeket csinalok mind a ket mukodo fenykepezogepemmel. Hola! Another update for all you guys, I bet you will get bored of these soon hey! We picked up Laura from the airport, stayed a night in Lima. Then took abus up to Nazca . It was another mad overnight journey so the day felt long as we decided to do the flight to see the lines on the same day. We booked a flight which was meant to depart at 9am but suprise suprise we didn{t take off until 11 ( in a 5 seater plane)! Anyway the lines were cool our piloit was sweet did a lot of turns so that everyone could see the lines properly. They were a lot smaller than i anticipated. It was just quite perplexing to think why they were actually made and what a random discovery they ... read more

Well, it is the final hours of a 14 day stay in and out and around the city of Huaraz and I must say that I’m glad to be moving on. My experiences here have been somewhat bittersweet and the expectations of adventure and accomplishment have fallen short. I also can’t say that I like Huaraz all that much either. Here’s the breakdown: The morning after (there’s got to be…name that movie theme song!) arriving in Cusco, I took a taxi to the airport almost 3 hours before I needed to get there because of the impending taxi strike at 6 am. Almost everyone flying that day, at whatever time, was already there too. Luckily, LAN Peru is a very organized airline and had employees trolling the check-in line for passengers of the early flights and ... read more

First, Hi to all the new readers, Erika (twenty one and looking great!, can I see your student card please?) Kirsty (also 21 but just a few days older than Erika and looking great), Lucas (how´s your girlfriend in Cusco?), Helene and Nicole (Sorry I did not get to say goodbye at Machu Picchu, I had a great time with both of you!), Rowan and Marco (the hike up Wannu Picchu was stunning) and Emerick (great to meet you and your mom on that long taxi ride) Get that coffee going, it a long one. Final moments in Cusco and then.... Well, one last night in Cusco proved to be quite spectular. The Boys and I met Kirsty and Erica at MAP Cafe for what turned out to be an amazing dinner. The place, as you ... read more
