Snowboarding at Pacas Mayo
Climbing up the mountain was a pain in the ass, but it was worth the effort.
Also the jumping part was a lot of fun!!! Lima was Quick and our bus was supposed to stop in Huaraz.....we woke up in Caraz, 2 hours north.
Unexpectedly it wasn´t that bad after all. It turned out to be the beginning point of one of the most beatiful hikes around Huaraz.
We bought our food and set of for this 3 day hike from Santa Cruz to Laguna Llanganuco.....
We were not that lucky with the weather until we had to cross this pass of 4800 meters the second day. While other people camped before this pass, because of the bad weather earlier, the luck turned out to be with us....Finaly some good views and the snowstorms were long gone when we reached the pass.
Last day, was easy, untill we had to take the bus back, 4hours stuffed in a small minivan driving up and down the mountainroad...
At 7 we arrived in Huaraz, and after a quick shower it was time to celebrate my birhtday. A nice meal, and a visit to a nice bar where the bartender gave me some free pisco!!! Strong stuff that pisco, but we had a great night. I even (tried) to dance some spanish dances
Next day we took it

We did this spectacular 3 day hike, not the best weather, but here at the pass of 4800 meters we were lucky with the view easy, walked around town and booked our next adventures.
We took of for another 3 days, first day we did some rockclimbing at an altitude of 4200 meters. A bit harder than at sealevel (or it was because of I hadn´t climbed for too long) I tried to scale these walls. We had good fun, but it was a bit too cold (ofcourse I was expecting sunshine)
The Next day with our arms still sore from the day before we tried a bit of Ice Climbing. This time even higher at 5000 meters. We had a good time, but after trying this before it was not that special.
Since I left my poles from my tent in Huaraz, we couldn´t use our tent. Luckily there was a small shack with a roof and some plastic to keep the wind out. The Peruvian people that lived there where so kind to make a place for us to sleep to and we had a good time chatting with them while the temperature dropped slowely to minus 8!!
The Next morning was the highlight of our small trip. We packed our Snowboards and took of to climb to the summit of
Santa Cruz track near Huaraz
The end of the trail, some nice local kids begged us for some bread 5200. Just an hour walking in the snow and we made it. Too bad the descend was just a little more than a minute but to finally be snowboarding again felt great!
At the bottom of the glaciar we built a small ramp were we did a bit of jumping before we made our way to the summit again. Awesome day with great snowboarding and in the end we took the bus back to Huaraz.
The guys of the outdoorcompany in Huaraz (andeankingdom) were great. I wanted to do some canyoning and the were willing to lend us the gear for almost nothing. So today turned out another great day.
With the two of us we went in this canyon with 8 rappels between 10 and 30 meters. Great to be abseiling in a waterfall again. I love this place , its hard to leave...probably one more day of rockclimbing and than sleeping in the nightbus again going somewhere new😊
photos follow....since I lost my camera!!!
