Beach trip to Sao Francisco do Sul

I am sitting on the balcony in a lot of heat and sunshine. I bought sunscreen no. 50 and am using it.

Yesterday we went on the beach and it was great, besides how much I burned. But it looks a lot better today than yesterday. The beach trip was a whole lot of adventure. We went to Sao Francisco do Sul and on the Praia Enseada beach. Look it up on Google Earth if you want. First we went to the bus station and we took a quite long route to get there (we had not yet discovered the shorter route). But it was good to walk and see more of the town.

Then when we came to the bus station we bought a ticket to Sao Francisco do Sul and got into the bus 20 minutes later. Good timing becaus we had no idea when the busses would go. It was quite an experience to drive around and see the nature and how the people live. It is strange to see that people just live in small huts that look like they are about to fall apart.

When we came to the busstation in Sao Francisco do Sul we had no idea about how to get to the beach and I went and asked the guy working there (in portugeese) which bus to take to get there. He looked at me and started rambling on about how to get there, in portugeese of course, and I understood that we should walk 1 km back and over some hill. Ok, then we turned around and started walking. We asked more people on the way and everyone pointed to the same direction. Finally we saw a bus stop, and thought this was the right one, but people here are not much for displaying info in the bus stops. So one has no idea about which bus stops there or where they are going or at what time. There are just empty bus stops. Well, we waited and finally a boy comes and starts waiting too, so we ask (in portugeese) if this is the right bus stop, but he tells us that this is not it, and we should walk further. The heat is soaking and we walk and walk untill we are downtown in Sao Francisco do Sul. There we ask some guys on a gas station and they pointed us into the right direction and told us that it is next to the phone boot. When we came closer we saw the bus drive by and we missed it. Well, nothing else to do than wait for the next one. We had no clock but it did not matter because there were no timetables on the bus stop. Hemmi went to the gas station and bought beer and then we just sat in the bus stop and waited. I have no idea how long we waited, but finally a bus arrived and we went for it and on to the beach.

Wow, how good it looked! Totally white sand and warm ocean. Fantastic. Later we got something to eat and decided to try to get back. We were talking about how much trouble it was to get there, and were wondering how we could do it in a easier way next time. We headed back to were we came off the bus, but it was a one-way street so the bus goes another way back. At this point the rain was pouring down, but we found a bus stop and were sure that this must be the right one. Then a bus arrived and we jumped into it and told them we were going to Joinville, and he said "OK, we are going there". We could not belive how lucky we were that the bus went all the way and were talking about that next time we should take this bus and go all the way to the beach. Then we discovered that it was the same bus that we took earlier, but we should have bought a ticket directly to the beach, but not just to Sao Francisco do Sul. Hehehe, it is fun to be in another country and to be totally clueless :)

On the way back from the bus station in Joinville we discovered a shortcut home and also found where all the cool bars are located, so it was a great trip and a learning experience too. We talked portugeese to everyone we met. I have decided to try to learn it as much as I can because there are so few people here talking english, and one is totally helpless without being able to communicate.

Sit núna út af svölum í þvílium hita og sólskini. Keypti sólarvörn nr 50 og er búin að bera á mig.

Við fórum á ströndina í gær og það var alveg æðislegt fyrir utan að ég brann frekar mikið. En þetta lítur betur út i dag heldur en í gær. Strandarferðin var frekar mikið ævintýri. Við fórum til sao francisco de sul og á ströndina praia ensneada. Þið getið skoðað á goggle earth. Við þurftum fyrst að koma okkur á rútubílastöðina og fórum frekar langa leið þangað (vorum ekki búin að fatta styttri leiðina). En það var rosa gaman að labba þetta og sjá bæinn sinn betur.

Svo þegar við komum á rútustöðina þá keyptum við miða til sao francisco de sul og skelltum okkur svo upp í rútuna sem kom 20 minutum seinna. Góð tímasetning því við höfðum ekki hugmynd um hvenær rúturnar gengu. Það var mikil upplifun að keyra um og sjá nattúruna og hvernig fólkið býr. Það er skrýtið að sjá fólk bara búa í litlum kofum sem lita út fyrir að fara falla saman.

Þegar við komum á rútustöðina í sao francisco de sul þá höfðum við ekki hugmynd hvernig við ættum að komast á ströndina og ég fór og spurði kallinn í lúgunni(á portugölsku) hvada strætó við ættum að taka til að komast á ströndinna. Hann horfði á mig stórum augum og fór hann þvílikt að lýsa leiðinni á portugölsku náttúrulega og ég skildi að við áttum að labba 1 km til baka þaðan sem við komum og yfir einhverja hæð. Ok þá bara snérum við við og byrjuðum að labba af stað. Spurðum fleira fólk á leiðinni og allir beintu í sömu átt og sögðu okkur að labba áfram. Svo loksins sáum við strætóskýli og hugsum að þetta hlýtur að vera rétta stoppistoðinn en braseliubúar eru ekki mikið fyrir að setja upp upplýsingar í strætóskýlunum sínum. Þannig að maður hefur ekki hugmynd um hvaða strætóar stoppa þarna eða hvert þeir fara eða klukkann hvað. Það eru bara tóm skýli. jæja við bíðum og svo kemur strákur og fer að bíða líka þannig við spyrjum(á portugölsku) hvort þetta sé rétta stoppistöðinn en hann segir að svo sé ekki og að við eigum að halda áfram að labba. Það er alveg steikjandi hiti og við löbbum og löbbum þangað til við erum komin niðri miðbæ sao francisco de sul. Þar spyrjum við aftur einhverja kalla á bensínstöðinni og þeir beinda í rétta átt og segja að þetta sé hjá símaklefanum. Þegar við erum að nálgast þá sjáum við strætóinn keyra framhjá okkur og við missum af honum. jæja þá var ekkert annað að gera heldur en að bíða eftir næsta. Við vorum ekki með neina klukku á okkur en það skipti engu máli því að það eru engar tímatöflur í skýlunum. Þannig að hemmi fer bara á bensinstöðina og kaupir bjór og svo sitjum við bara og tjillum i strætóskýlinu að bíða. Hef ekki hugmynd hvað við biðum lengi en svo kemur loksins strætó og við skellum okkur upp í hann og fórum af stað.

Svo komum við á ströndina og vá þetta var svo flott. Alveg hvítur sandur og heitur sjór. Það var alveg æðislegt. Fengum okkur svo að borða og ætluðum að reyna koma okkur einhvern veginn til baka. Við vorum að tala um hvað það væri mikið vesen að fara þangað og vorum að spá hvernig við gætum gert þetta auðveldara næst. Við fórum til baka á staðinn sem að við höfðum farið út á enn það var einstefna þannig að strætóinn til baka fer aðra leið. Þá var komin hellidemba en við fundum strætostoppistöð og ákváðum að þetta hlyti að vera rétta stöðin. Svo kom fyrsti strætó og við hoppuðum upp í hann og sögðumst vera fara til joinville og hann ok við förum þangað. Við trúðum því ekki hvað við vorum heppinn að strætóinn færi alla leið til joinville og við alveg vá við verðum bara að taka þennan næst og fara alla leið beint á ströndina. Svo föttuðum við að þetta var sama rúta og við tókum á ströndina en við áttum að kaupa miða beint á ströndina en ekki til sao francisco de sul. hehehe það er gaman að vera í útlöndum og ekki vita baun:)

Svo á leiðinni tiil baka fra rútubílastöðinni i joinville föttuðum við styttri leið heim og fundum lika hvar allir skemmtistaðirnir eru þannig að þetta var mjög lærdómsrik og skemmtileg ferð. Við töluðum portugölsku við alla sem við töluðum við. Er búin að ákveða að reyna læra hana eins mikið og eg get þvi það eru svo fair sem að tala ensku og maður er alveg bjargarlaus ef maður getur ekki gert sig skiljanlegan.
