Rio
From Corovado Hello Everyone!
Well we made it to Brazil after a long time travelling from Peru. We flew into Sao Paulo and then had to get to the bus station and get on a bus to Rio, all went rather well and without a hitch. Got a taxi to the hotel that we thought we had a reservation, turned out we didnt really, oh dear. It was the last day of the Carnival the day we arrived so the place was mobbed, to cut a long story short we are staying with a girl whos friend works in the hostel we wanted to stay at, in her apartment! All worked out fine in the end but very stressful, as usual!!
So just as we got used to the whole spanish lingo thing we now have to deal with Portugese, which is rather amusing but we are getting by, mostly still speaking spanish and hoping everyone understands!
We are staying in Ipanema, which is the beach along from Copacabana. Its really nice here, its SO SO hot though way over 30 every day, we are wearing our factor 30 though so trying our hardest not to get burnt, although our
Rio
Christ the Redeemer legs look a little red today!!
The day we arrived it just so happened that there was a derby happening at the Maracana the next night so we very promptly put our names down and going to see a game there was def top of Martyns to do list in Rio! It was Flamengo vs Fluminese, which means nothing to me but Martyn knew exactly who they were! It was so much fun, it was crazy, these fans are off their heads! The first half was a bit dull, but at half time it started raining SO bad and thunder and lightening. The light went off and the 2nd half was delayed. The fans went crazy throwing stuff and flares were going off everywhere. When the 2nd half came back on, our team scored!(Flamengo)but alas it was their last one and the other team beat us 4-1!! It was so much fun though!
We been hitting the beach pretty much all the time although we are heading up to see Christ the Redeemer tonight so def looking forward to that.
We are off down the coast tom to Ilhe Grande, which is hopefully a lovely island paradise
