Snorkling Hello everyone
Well where do I start, we left Rio about a week ago and got the bus down to Angra dos Reis where we then got a ferry across to Ilhe Grande. There are no banks and no cars on the island which makes for a big change from Rio. We eventually found our hostel (Over Nativa) there was NO signs at all and tempers were getting frayed but alas with some help from a man who spoke no english we found it!! Really nice hostel just one street back from the main beach. We were staying in a 10 bed dorm in a vain effort to stop spending so much money but it was a big dorm so it was cool and we met 2 guys from Birmingham, Aaron and Sam who we ended up being drinking and card playing buddies with for the next 4 days.
There is not so much to do on the island but the nicest beach (which is rumoured to be the nicest in Brazil) Lopes Mendes is over the other side of the island and in my trusty Lonely Planet (who slowly but surely is getting less trustier!) they said it

Snorkling was a lovely 2 1/2 hour walk to get to it. So I persuaded Martyn it was the thing to do instead of being boring and paying pennies to get a boat over. So off we went all prepared. Alas we got lost for the first 2hours and boy we were crabbit by this time it cant off been far off 35 degrees, but from the help of a German lady we were back on track all be it 2 hours later, to cut a long story short the walk was HELL, for some people it prob was an easy walk but we are not walkers at all and it was up hill in the heat ahh!! But much to Martyns delight we did see loads of monkeys! They were climbing all above us it was really cool. Anyway we did it and it was worth it, if only for the feeling of self satisfication!! The beach was lovely and the waves were huge which Mart was loving, so what a day, needless to say we got the boat back!!! Anyway that was about the only adventure from Ilhe Grande just a lot of drinking and chilling out!!

Snorkling we left the island all nice and tanned, shame you couldnt see it under all the mosquito bites!! We were eaten alive regardless of the sheer volume of insect replellent we were putting on ahh!! So we were off to Paraty about 2 hours down the coast, we hopped on a bus that seriously could not have fitted even a mouse on it, it was that packed and we were of course standing trying to keep our HUGE bags out everyones way very amusing!!
Arrived in Paraty and my god the rain was bouncing off the ground it was crazy we really didnt do much that day read alot of our books and slept a lot!! The weather got way better though and we headed out on a boat trip today to some beaches and islands. It was a fantastic day so much fun and the snorkling was amazing I have never seen fish like it, all around us and Martyn held a huge starfish it was amazing. Theres lots of beaches around here so prob just kick about them until we head to Sao Paulo on Thurs, to get a overnight bus up to Foz Igazu to see
