RIO HARBOURRIO HARBOURRIO HARBOUR

Good morning Rio!
Beautiful sunrise as we entered the harbour of Rio, Sugar Loaf and Christ the Redeemer hit you in the face, a spectacular site from the water, Christ the Redeemer just sitting above the cloud, like it is floating! Breaky early and head out into the thousands for the last day of carnivale, 3 street parties to go to!! First one on Ipanema Beachfront, fantastic costumes and music and dancing, then onto a more suburban one, could hardy move! Last one was the best - Brazilians sure know how to party - doesn't matter how big! - those bodies just shake and dance! Millions of litres of beer consumed in Rio today!! Then headed out to Copacabana beach for dinner at a Churasscaria restaurant, absolutely stuffed full of lovely meats bought to our table and carved in front of us - had a couple of Caprahinas and a lovely bottle of red! End to a perfect day.

Second day took a local guide to Christ the Redeemer, which was fantastic as he was able to get express tickets etc - so no queues - very lucky! An absolute maginificent statue high above Rio on top a 2300 ft high mountain, then

to Macarana stadium, capacity 180,000 but they have had 200,000 in it - they are very proud of this stadium - used for soccer and music events. Then had a couple of hours at Copacabana beach, having lunch in a beaut restaurant right opposite the beach, few drinks and relax, before heading back to San Sebastian Cathedral and saw some of the city sites. Our guide George was just fantastic! Sailing 6.00p.m. tonight for Buenos Aires. Two days at sea - catch up with laundry, ironing etc.
