Comedy Statue
Having a good giggle with a rather stiff old guy we found sat on a benchWe got a night bus directly from Montevideo .. and the only real event was realising halfway through the journey that we were due to arrive at 4am ... we'd counted on arriving much later, and had to call the hostel when we arrived to see if a) they were open and b) if they had space. We ended up crashing out for what was left of the night in seperate girls and boys dorm rooms, before being able to check in to our room later on that day!
The main reason for going to Rosario in the first place was to skydive! So on the first day, we booked the trip and then relaxed in and around the hostel .. finishing off the day with full stomachs after going to an all (the grease) you can eat restaurant.
Unfortunately, we woke up to a cloudy morning which was no good for parachuting .. the trip organisers called the hostel to say that it was off ... so rather disappointed, we instead spent the day walking to the river, and around the shops. The highlight (or rather lowlight) was assuming that we could walk to the
Rosario from the air
Taken from the National Monument to the Flag large shopping centre that the hostel advised us about. It wasn't the walk that was the issue, rather the slum neighbourhood that surrounded the mall. Its no overstatement to say that we were sh***ing ourselves by the time we got into the centre. It served as a good reminder .. not to try and walk places as you never know the areas through which you're going to pass. This time though, we were lucky!
