I want to say it was the Saar that had to change its abbreviations of the state after ww2 because of the association. it was interesting reading that most men joined because of the lack of work at the time, by joining the SA and nazi party the would recieve food and barracks along with the uniform a sense of comradship, making it really entisive to young men
