This is the boundary between the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates. Thingvellir National Park, in southwestern Iceland, is one of the few places in the world where an underwater ridge rises above the water surface.
Photos from Iceland June 3rd 2010 Attached are photos from a week in Iceland in May. We saw geysers, glaciers, beaches. We drove through the ash cloud (and came out the other side) and soaked ourselves in the thermal waters of the Blue Lagoon. We experienced the 'runter' or pub crawl in Reykjavik (turning up at a pub at around 10pm in daylight and leaving it at around 3am in daylight was very confusing!). Went wale watching. ... read more
