As I stared out the window there appeared an aqua-marine lake in the barren, hostile looking plains. This signified our approach to El Calafate airport. The drop in temperature was significant. Welcome People!! South America has always held a fascination for me since a very young age. The story of the rise and destruction of the Inca Empire, filled with its insatiable lust for riches and power, has stayed with me to this day.
