Lava Gull

A bleak arid island coastline is visible behind the gull. High mountains on the islands capture nearlly all the rainfall. We saw the lush green mountains on our island mainly while traveling by bus to the other side of the island, on our way to the airport and the Ecuadorean mainland.

Next stop on our cruise down the west coast of South America was Ecuador, which lies south of the Panama Canal from Guatemala. Dick and I are learning a lot about geography on this trip.
