Rotes Rathaus

Across the square which houses the Marienkirche we could see the Rotes Rathaus (Red City Hall). It gets its name from the red bricks used in its construction. This was another building almost totally destroyed in World War II. It sat in the Russian Zone and served as the home of the East Berlin magistrate. With reunification it once again serves as the office of the Mayor of Berlin
