The very end of the original Wall

There are only 57 meters of the Western Wall visible today, yet in Herod's day it was much larger,.well over a hundred yards. Here we see the very end of the wall, still under construction. Why did Herod abandon the construction we will never know. This stone is 115 feet below the current street level.
