Built by Constintine's mother Helen this church has the burial place of Jesus, The stone where his body was laid, and a piece of the True Cross. It also houses the area where he was crucified on Golgotha

Joseph was a cousin of Jesus and is said to be the one who took the body off of the cross and laid it in a tomb built for himself. The tomb on the right is said to be where Jesus lay for three days before the resurrection. This is the Armenian belief

Located just a few feet away from the tomb above Christian believers that this is where Jesus was buried. These conflicting traditions are compounded by the fact that this Church is home to various sects of Christians, Roman Catholic, Armenian, Coptic, and Greek,.

When King Herod built the second temple he built it upon the back of a city that was already there. Ninety feet below the current street level is the original city level destroyed by Herod. He built arches (this is one) to level the city above so he could construct the Second Temple upon the bones of the First Temple. This is one of those arches.

Below the current Western Wall are more construction works done by Herod. Here we have a cistern designed to hold water for a city built in the desert.

There are only 57 meters of the Western Wall visible today, yet in Herod's day it was much larger,.well over a hundred yards. Here we see the very end of the wall, still under construction. Why did Herod abandon the construction we will never know. This stone is 115 feet below the current street level.
