Getting readyGetting readyGetting ready

I'm ready to take on the world! This was actually taken in Calaveras County, so don't think the fauna in New Zealand looks exactly like California's.
We just got into Auckland and boy are our arms tired😊 It was a very long plane ride and a long time in getting our car, but we made it to the hostel and it all worked out, eventually. We have our own room with two beds, a floor bathroom, kitchen, laundry, and internet access! It's a pretty sweet set up because we are right near downtown as well. We walked around for a few hours to get a feal for the city and it very much reminds me of San Francisco. It isn't quite as busy as San Francisco, but it does have a kind of businessesque atmosphere. Yes that is a new word.

After checking out downtown we walked through a small park and checked out an abstract art exhibit that was free. We will be doing that most of the time, seeing free things if we can. There was a really crazy looking 3D oversized head that was made out of just matchstick heads. And it was eating a stuffed bear. I don't quite get the New Zealanders yet apparently, because that just doesn't make sense, but maybe I will after the next 2 months. Maybe it's

What the title said.
a jab at California's fire representative, Smokey the Bear, and his lack luster job of preventing forest fires. Probably not though.

Alright, that is all the randomness you will get for now. I'm going to commence with trying to upload pictures. So you may see pictures attached to this note, but maybe not. I'll work on it 😊

Love to everyone,

Daniel

We could pay $12 to go to the top, gamble and drink fine wine, but then we would just have to come home within a week if we lived like that.

crazy tree
My friend Mike says he spoke with some folks about this tree. They are 80 percent sure it is one tree and got cut off at the trunk and continued to grow multi-branches. He said it's pretty crazy to see a tree that has been cut off like that and survive. Mom
