Feeb!!!!!!
Tis that time again, well I’ve been heading up the east coast up through Newcastle to the first stop Port Stephens, very nice place, but very expensive. We booked up a trip to go out on a sailing boat which involves Dolphin watching, snorkelling (with a load of jelly fish) and a trip around some of the local islands, we did manage to see some dolphins but they were that far away i could'nt get a decent picture, never mind I’m sure i will get some decent photo's when i get to New Zealand and go in the water with them. Oh yeah and i also look like a bit of a mincer standing on the front of the boat just before you all start laying into me you bunch of beeeeeeeeeeeeeps!!!! So after Port Stephens we kept to the east coast and headed to Byron Bay for a few days very beautiful town and then upto Brisbane where we spent a few days just chilling out and decided to book up some activities over the next couple of weeks as all we have been doing is going out partying and sleeping during the day. Its been good but
obviously i could be doing this stuff back at home.
We booked up a trip to Noosa for a few days, Noosa is like a celebrity retreat, very nice place and fooking expensive. We headed to the Everglades for a 3 day 2night canoe and camping trip, I think I must be getting lazy as I was absolutely knackered by the time we got back to the hotel, in 1 day we had to row 12km and then walk for 18km to see a big sand patch in the middle of nowhere, you can probably see from the photo everyone looks wiped out. It was all good fun though and we had some good people in our group, the only problem is we did’nt take enough booze and ran out on the last night (buga!). Also whilst sitting round the campsite after dinner everyone shat themselves as a snake about 2m long decided he wanted to directly under the table where we were all sitting, turns out it was only a python but we did’nt know that at the time Parp!
It was a good few days camping and it was nice to head back to a bit
of luxury as we were able to get a penthouse apartment for only $50 each. After Noosa we headed to Rainbow Beach which is one of gateways to Fraser Island for yet more camping, you would think I would have learnt my lesson by now. Well I did in one respect, we remembered to take more booze, however if its there you still end up drinking all of it, we drank 30 cans of VB, 3 litres of Vodka and ½ a bottle of Red Label between 5 hic!
The Best way to do Fraser I think is to do a self drive 4wd, much more fun and you get to go at your own pace and go and do whatever you want to do. We did hear some horror stories about people being stuck in groups with complete tosser’s and not getting on with each other, luckily for us there were 16 of us in total and everyone in the group were really sound. We ripped up the beach doing about 100km/hr and saw the Maheno Ship wreck (got some ok photo’s I think), we did lakes Mckenzie, Wabby and Birabeen. Lake Birabeen is definitely the best lake,
we arrived there slightly later in the day but had the whole lake to ourselves, the water is really clean and clear, even drinkable and for the ladies you can take the mud from the bottom of the lake and use it for cleansing your skin, it does smell like horse poo though! And speaking of horse poo someone must have taken a dump in Lake Wabby just before we arrived as the Lake smelled like a sewage outlet, nice! Anyhoo apart from that I had a cracking time on Fraser, good fun driving off road and swimming in freshwater lakes and avoiding the packs of dingos at night. We did have a slight hiccup with the ferry on the way back, Chris drove on the last day after myself and parked the car on the ferry, he put the handbrake on but did’nt leave it in gear, turns out the handbrake is dodgy and the car rolled forward and smashed into the ramp. Luckily only the bulbar was damaged and the guy at hire place let us off, otherwise it would have been a $1000 charge from the garage oops.
We did the old classic aswell the Steve
Irwin Zoo, quite small but still pretty good, stroked a croc (no i dont mean my knob), it was only about 3 ft long (same length as my knob). There is video before they do the main croc shows in the central arena, with Bindy Irwin singing a song about snakes, i feel for the girl i really do with losing her dad and all but christ that video is so cheesy its dripping edam.
Whitsunday’s, now this is living, we booked a Maxi Racing Yacht called the Freight Train which won a fair amount of races in its day. For 3 days we sailed around the Whitsunday’s with 22 people on board, 2 crew and the skipper, going to various dive/snorkelling sights and various points on the islands, including Whitehaven Beach. The only downer is you have to wear a stinger suit whilst in the water otherwise it’s a trip to the hospital and more than likely followed by a trip to the morgue. All food was cooked for you and the only thing you had to do was swim and lie in the sun all day and drink at night, nice and chilled. The Skipper, Jeff, was
a good laugh and a dirty old bastard aswell he has more sick porn on his phone than Mike has on his PC, well not quite but you get the picture. He also took some scraps of meat and gets Sea Eagles to fly right down by the boat which is a pretty cool sight, then he threw some meat into the water and literally in a matter of seconds white tip reef sharks were right next to the boat, it was cool.
At the minute I am in Cairns, did a Minjin bridge swing, getup to 137km/h and pull 3G, it was a bit of a laugh not sure if it was worth $45 though for 2 min adrenalin rush. Leaving Cairns in a few days for Ayres Rock, then its Goodbye Australia hello New Zealand, 4 months in now and still loving it, met some quality people and hope to keep in touch with them, will also be saying goodbye to Dan and Chris who we have been travelling with for the last 2 months, (have to keep in touch with them as they have a house in BC, Canada so I can get some free accommodation
Pooped!
a wee bit tired after 12km of rowing and 18km of walking to reack the sand patch. there next year). They have been a right laugh and are always up for it when we go out on the piss which is pretty much everynight so I’m sure my liver will be glad when they head off. As probably will Mark seeing as he has sat in his room most nights on his own, BORING!!!!!!
So till the next blog guys, speak to you again from New Zealand.
