Bunbury
Overlooking the city from the inlet Prior to moving on Thursday morning we took a small drive to Rosa Brook.
We arrived at the quaint general store and the owner came out to fill up
the van (no self service, haven't seen that since I was a kid). The store
was something to behold with the interior seemingly untouched since the
turn of the previous century; bare wooden floorboards underfoot and
unfinished wooden shelves displaying the fresh produce on offer.
We then moved onto Margaret River for a walk up the main drag. The
surroundings in this area are stunning which makes going for a wander all
the more appealing. My ulterior motive for this stop in town was the
independent music store which again left me lighter in the pocket.
Our next destination was Bunbury as we have organised a few house sits over
the coming weeks. The drive in was an easy one but the smoke from the
ongoing bush fires was rather thick and prevalent enough to sting the eyes.
We checked into the Koombana Holiday Park but our run of cheap
accommodation came to an
Backyard of the year
Stunning views from our house sit end.....nice place but nearing $40 for an
unpowered site!
On Friday morning we went to meet the couple we are house sitting for from
Saturday. Lovely couple with a beautiful home in a nice area about 10
minutes out of Bunbury. This time it appears easier on the pet front with
a terrier and two cats to care for.
The rest of Friday was spent walking around Bunbury getting our bearings.
It is a big place but immaculately kept and with the added advantage of
being right on the coast. There are plenty of watering holes and quality
places to eat so I am sure we will feel right at home.
