Yarra Valley
Wine selection at Yering Station After an awesome trip travelling around the East Coast of Australia my final week was spent in Melbourne before the long flight back to the UK. Most of the time was spent going out with mates while I had the chance and also spending some time with family. By this time Hannah and I were totally broke and were solely reliant on credit cards which already had a massive amount of debt on them. What made things worse was the shocking exchange rate from pounds to dollars at the moment which made it so much more expensive than we ever expected. However if there was something going on, money was the last thing on our minds as it would be quite some time before we returned to Australia to live.
One thing we did decide to splurge on was something Hannah had wanted to do last time we were in Melbourne, a Yarra Valley Wine Tour. We invited Daniel and Dorana to come along with us for the day and we all made our way to Flinders Street Station in the city where our tour bus would pick us up. Once it did we had a good hour or so

The idea was to sip & spit into the silver container on the floor.....I just drank it all. drive before we reached our first winery, during which we had to decide what we were having for lunch. We were greeted with free tasters while we were given a brief introduction about the winery and the wines we were drinking. We must have been there for at least an hour trying all different types of wine they had to offer, it was so much fun. Shortly after we headed to our next winery where we would also be having lunch. Once we arrived we were greeted by staff and again given a brief introduction about the winery before being shown to our table for a delicious lunch. Afterwards, it was time for some wine tasting. We went straight to the wine bar where we took a seat, that’s when I recognised someone behind the bar, she recognised me as well. We had been at uni together going on 6-7 years ago, it was a fantastic coincidence because she made sure our tasting glasses were never empty.
After 10 or so wine tasters it was time to head off, we bought a few bottles of wine from her at a discounted price then stumbled back to the tour bus.

Free wine, fantastic lunch, doesn't get much better than that. We briefly stopped at our next winery and once again had an introduction on what they had to offer. We were keen to down the samples but there were so many people there and so few staff that we could only manage one before we gave up. Soon after that it was time to leave again and on to our fourth and final winery. The last winery was a particularly famous one, famous for their sparkling wine, it was Chandon. We were given a quick tour of the winery, including a look in the cellar, stacked with bottles of fermenting sparkling wine. Afterwards we each choose a taster we wanted, we were only allowed one, after that we had to buy them from the bar. We spent the remainder of the time relaxing outside in front of the vineyards and eventually we were rounded up back into the bus for our return to Flinders Street Station. From here we took the train back to McKinnon and walked home after an awesome day out.
For the most part of the reminder of the week I spent time with my family and went out with mates during the evening. On the

A quiet glass of renowned Chandon sparkling wine in Victoria's Yarra Valley. 7th of January my parents took Hannah and I to Melbourne International Airport as we jumped on the flight back to London. The first stint was 10 hours to Hong Kong where we had a long 8 hour stopover, We headed into the city to have a very quick look around and to find somewhere to eat. Hannah was keen on a pizza place we went to last time, so, we jumped on a Ferry and had a nice dinner with a fantastic view. Afterwards, Hannah was keen on exploring around Hong Kong, but I really wasn’t feeling great, so we decided to head back to the airport and rest before another exhausting flight. We arrived back in snow covered London in the early morning where Hannah’s mum was there to pick us up and take us home.
