Taken on a day of a short walk up main st of Hahndorf .... just liked the look of the church spire Yes....... 3 weeks today - we leave....... Have been walking as regularly as possible - my schedule is VERY busy with work shifts, socialising, Adelaide Fringe/Festival things to attend, choir etc - I honestly DO NOT have any free time until we get onto the plane ( where I may collapse weeping and exhausted!.....I know - it's my own fault.....!)
I have done a few walks up Anstey's Hill - one in the rain..... that was useful because I discovered my boots weren't particularly waterproof - I have 're-dubbinned' them and will do so again a few times probably before they see rain again.... It was interesting also because I found that when walking in the steady rain ( in an Altus poncho - which has arms and is more like a raincoat really - but goes over the backpack too) it feels a more insular experience...I have my peaked cap on and the hood goes OVER that and my face is angled down so it isn't constantly rained on and as I walked up the hill I felt more 'within' and didnt SEE so much of the surrounding area, didnt feel so much a part of the outer landscape
On Anstey's hill
In the rain.... look, look ... do you see the little little waterfall on the tree trunk ? lol I was passing through - but was more aware of the inner mental landscape ...though I did manage to notice a group of 3 roos crossing my path
I'm walking with ( almost full) pack each time now.... and have sewn on to my pack the Camino Forum patch, the Camino Down Under patch ( Corny? maybe - I was never a scout, though I was a 'Brownie' and it reminded me of those patch earning days ) and the Scallop shell which is widely recognised in Spain and is a symbol of the Camino and identifies the wearer as a Pilgrim on The Way ('The Way' being "The Way of St James" which is what Camino de Santiago means)
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Way_of_St._James Yesterday was a fabulous day weatherwise ( about 23-25 deg) for a walk up Mt Lofty.... which I did with Deb a workmate , Diane and her sister Karen. Mt Lofty is 710 m above sea level and the walk from Waterfall Gully is 4km............. ALL UP .... I was carrying my half full pack , and neede to stop regularly to catch my breathe, listen to the wind in the trees and the blood thudding in

me..... in wet weather gear......yes I am brave in posting such pics of myself :-) my ears ! ( thudding is a funny word isnt it?) We have a lovely shared lunch at the top of cheese platter and dips platter.....and coffees....... and THEN we had the knee joint testing downhill walk back - I'm glad I have my poles ( which I have painted with a bit of purple on - so I can quickly tell them apart from all the OTHER poles in the walking world) . They do add a stability and take away SOME of the strain......I'm not sure whether Mt Lofty felt steeper going up it or down .
OK - must quickly add some pictures now - before heading off for late/early combo shifts - followed by days off spent at Womad all weekend....I'll be walking there 12 hrs each day - but NOT with boots/poles/pack :-)
