Our walk to Semaphore

You can even make out the Semaphore Jetty in this image

About a km north of our beach you get to the Semaphore Jetty.
Friends joined us for a walk along our local beach at Semaphore on Saturday.

Semaphore is a lovely beach (yes I am biased). The water is reasonably shallow and the waves are small.

This was a sunny winters day - about 17 or 18 degrees Celcius.

Points of interest - the shells, the relatively empty beach, the white sand, the jetty, the Timeball tower, the Angel war memorial, The Palais, the playground, the Icecream shop in the old picture theatre, the new bike track, and the minature steam train that goes up and down the beach front (school holidays).

A firm favourite :-)

The boys are heading down the beach with their football. You can see the new groin in the background (well a sand gathering device for the Tennyson sand erosion problem)

Our local beach at Semaphore has white sand and lots of shells (so far our shell collection has over 30 different types)

Someone was having their wedding photos taken on the jetty as we were heading for an icecream on Semaphore Road.

We played footy up and down the beach. This shot is heading east towards Semaphore Road.

An old Dance Hall that is now a cafe, resaurant, and pokies venue.

Looking west. Adelaide gets great sunsets with the sun sinking into the watery horizon.

This shot shows the war memorial clock (broken) with the angel statue on top. To the right is the Timeball tower. At 5 minutes to 1 pm each day, the black ball rises to the top of the post. At 1 pm it falls to the bottom. It is a device that has been used by ships at sea to set their clocks.

Did I really do that?

Seagulls on the tarp

Yes, a slightly weird shot. The tarp goes over the childrens playground. The seagulls were making shadow puppets of themselves by walking on top of the tarp.
