Our luxury cabin
Hello Everyone,

We are now in Cairns. We have been here for a week and it is a lot hotter which is nice! We are staying at a Caravan park which although it sounds a bit rough is actually really good value for money. It has everything you could possibly want apart from a shower and toilet but they are just across the way so no problems.

On our first outing we decided to hire a car and head off for an hour north to a really good place called Hartley Crocodile Adventures. As you may of guessed the main attraction is the crocs but they also had Koala's (which Maria has not shut up about!!) and some little joeys running around who were really tame and took a liking to me and felt a bit sorry for Maria so gave her some attention as well. Maria has just informed that they also had Cassowary's which I forgot to mention. We'd never heard of these before we got to Oz but they are much talked about as they are very much an endangered species. They are a big bird, bit smaller than an Emu. They have been known to

kill people in the past with their massive claws. A lot of the staff working at the zoo said they would rather go in with the crocs than the Cassowary's!!

Anyway they had shows on throughout the day which were really good and the people who worked there were really knowledgeable and funny.

We finished the day with some crocodile kebabs which were tasty Mmmm!!

The other day we hired a little motor boat for a couple of hours and went up the river and tried a spot of fishing. After a while of sitting there beginning to get a little bored I suddenly felt a tug on the line so I tugged back and began reeling in when I realised it was putting up a bit more of a struggle than I expected. To my horror and surprise I had caught an eel and quite a big one as well, it was ugly and was thrashing around (Maria was freaking out) and I didn't know what to do so I cut the line but we got some pics so all good. I also caught a big mud crab but it managed to get away. Maria was

a bit slow and the fish kept eating her bait before she could react, but she got to steer the boat quite a lot so I think she was happy in the end.

NEWSFLASH!!

Yesterday we bought a car! Well actually a tank. Its a Volvo estate called Torga. We bought it from a crazy swedish guy who named her. She almost as old as Maria but touch wood everything seems fine. It turned out to be a real bargain as he was going home the following day so slashed the price from $1800 to $900 (approx 450 gbp) and threw in some camping bits as well.

As we speak the car is in for a service so fingers crossed eh! We are going to have a look round town for some jobs but ultimately think we will have to move on as there doesn't seem to be much around Cairns at the mo.

Anyway gonna shoot love to you all
