Hello everyone!!
How are you all doing? Everything here is good. Had a much better week this week you'll all be glad to know and an even better weekend, so hurrah!!
The week started slowly as Monday and Tuesday (6th and 5th) I didn't do anything, oh my washing but that doesn't count. I was feeling really miserable at the beginning of the week. My tonsils were getting worse and was proper mopey! Hurrah for Ketrina though (the Notts girl from work!) she invited me for tea and to stay at her house on Wednesday. I ate loads of avocado though and was a bit poorly, oops! Apart from that it was a really lovely evening. We had lots of wine, saw the possums that live in the tree thing at the back of their house, which by the way is lovely. It's on stilts, with the little storage bit underneath, like I think a proper Australian house should look like, and underneath there is a hammock. At the back of the house there's a verandah that they've got a table and a bbq on, and from there you can see the park and stuff. We ate breakfast out
there and it was so nice, even at 7.30 in the morning it was warm! There's two ensuite bedrooms then a lounge area and a kitchen, but it feels really soothing and is actually a proper house as opposed to a hostel!
Thursday i waxed my legs, great (very overdue) and Friday after being in a good mood from spending some money (oops) on my favourite make-up, Bernard called me and said that him and Tom were in Brisbane!! I was soo happy! I had invited myself out with some other people, but this was far more exciting (sorry to them if they ever they read this!!). I met them in O'malley's the Irish bar and then we went to the backpacker place, Down Under and then to another bar Victories, which proper smelt of cheesy feet, like Heaven and Hell in Leeds if anyone’s ever been there! Saw a guy with a really amusing slogan on his t-shirt, well it was when he covered some words up but I can't remember what it was. Wasn't that clean though if I remember rightly so prob best not to say anyway...
We were sat out in the beer garden,
in the rain, yes rain the first in the three weeks I've been here, and while you're all having a heat wave as well, the shame of it! Anyway, we were out there and Declan slipped off the step and whacked his chin on the top of this barrel that was being used as a table! I thought he'd knocked himself out and everyone rushed forward but evidently he was alright. The Irish, they're made of strong stuff!!
The Saturday I went round to Ketrin'a house again and had tea and then we went into town for the football match. It was packed where we went and a bit wet too! The match was a bit crap in all fairness and I was knackered so didn't stay out much after that! The Irish lads came too and Bernard's girlfriend made a surprise visit whcih was really lovely!
The Sunday me and Liz went out for a tasty tea and then we went to O'malley's again to meet the Irish guys. There were some guys playing Irish music in there and the atmosphere was really good. Met this guy from Nottingham who was here on a wedding trip so
they came out with me and Liz into the valley. Got really drunk and stole some balloons but was a really good night!
On Monday, Bernard was going back to Childers to do some more work with the tomatoes and Tom and Declan were staying so we went for a walk around the city and then Tom, me and Declan went to the pictures to watch the Da Vinci code, which I thought was very entertaining! A really lovely long weekend! Oh if you’re wondering why I wasn’t at work on Monday, it was a bank holiday here for the Queens birthday. How odd though, we don’t have a public holiday for it in England and the date it’s on is neither the Queen’s actual birthday or her official birthday, the Australian’s have just made a day up and declared it their holiday! Well I’, sure there’s actually something more to it than that but no-ones told me about it if there is!
Right will continue on another blog for this week just gone, tarah!!
