G'day!
Hope ya all good and not too cold in England! Wierd that your all going into winter and we're going into summer! Makes it hard to remember what month it is...I still think its July time!!
Anyway I'll stop rubbing it in and update ya...
Left Hervey Bay and had to stop at yet another pointless compulsory stop (now can ya see why we hate the bus, we just want to get there not be forced to spend nights at places we don't want to see!). This time it was Rainbow Beach! The journey from Hervey only took 1.5 hours, but then we had to stay at Rainbow even though it was 7pm by time we got there (and we were leaving at 7.30am) so didn't really have time to see any of it! Took a walk to the beach, but sometimes beaches are beaches! So chilled in the room with no TV...but you know we're great at making our own entertainment, so we did! The guys back in Koh Toa had invented a great game so decided to give it a try (feel free to steal the idea if ya get bored)! It's called DONKEY! Suppose
not quite a fit aussie guy...
...but a surprisingly good cook...had me eaten steak!! to get a ball (we don't carry a ball around so in our case it was a pillow!) and a bucket (or bin!)! Then you each take it in turns to chose a position you have to be in to throw the ball into the bucket! Eg. facing the wall and throwing backwards, or in the cupboard with one arm! Gets bit stupid! If ya miss ya get a D, then an O...etc! First to DONKEY loses! We never got the pillow in once but was fun!
Babbling now, so...got up next morning and went the 2 hours to Brisbane! Decided to stay in the centre at place called Brisbane Backpackers! Defo the worst place we stayed! It was so dirty and they crammed 10 people into a room that was barely big enough for 2!! Thank god didn;t stay in room much!
Sarah had a friend who has lived in Oz for years and had just moved to Brisbane! So we had arranged to have a BBQ at her aparment on the Friday night! Woohoo! Our first Aussie BBQ...about time! Only thought would have some fit surfer dudes to cook it for us, but nah, had to
do it ourselves first time! Oh well! Did wicked job of it! And we must have bought about a child's weight worth of meat (all for $35 which is bout 17 quid!! Bonus!!!!)...and then got the good old cheap goon!!! Which is the cheap wine made of fish, eggs and milk! Yum!!! But does the job when ya skint!
Becci's apartment was sooooo nice! Her apartment had a massive balcony which overlooked the river with Brisbane in the background! Looked gorgous when all light up on a night! ANd then the BBQ area had a massive swimming pool with a jaquzzi at the top of it! Just think the OC...was amazing! And we were only ones down there...so ate, drank and chilled in the jaquzzi all night! Was really nice after doing almost a month in the crappy hostels...felt like bit of normality and luxury again! And we all chilled out which was great! Just a shame when we had to go back to the hostel later on...least we were drunk by that point so the room was a blur!
The next day we got up and met Becci at her apartment again! Then walked over the bridge
to Botanic Gardens...there was a really good market on that day so we mooched round that (which was slightly depressing as money is getting bit tight now so couldn't afford to treat ourselves! Oh well, all part of being a backpacker I guess!)!!! Then Sar, Nik and Becci went off to the Art Gallery and I had to go on the net to check my bank account (had bit of a panic that spent too much money as usual- and yep I had! Opps!)...agreed to ring them to meet somewhere when I was done! Only forgot I never had their Oz phone numbers stored in my phone (no reason for me to - spend every min of the day with them! We call ourselves the 'family unit'- really gay I know but is actually a quote from Nik's mum which we found funny!)...so I ended up lost in Brisbane by myself! Had no way of contacting them, no idea where they were as the Art Gallery had closed ages ago, no money on me, and no idea where I was! Eeek!! Felt like a toddler again crying for my mummy! Would you have come and got me mum?? Was scary
at time, but Sar ended up ringing and the family unit was complete once again! hehe!!!
Anyway, after that ordeal we went back to the crappy hostel and got ready for a night out (first proper one in a while so we were all well up for it!!)! Went round to Becci's first to get drunk on left over goon (too expensive to drink when your out over here!) and watched the England match! England v Australia!!! haha!!! Come on England!! All I can say is the Aussies were not very friendly that night after we had just knocked them outta the World Cup! Opps!! So no fit Aussie guys for us that night!
Brisbane was a good night out!! Went to a club which was wicked! Was absolutely massive inside...could easily have got lost! Danced away in there and got to 4am, all lagging a little, so Becci decided to make us a shot to perk us up! Bar girl made the shot with the wrong spirits so Becci questioned it, next thing we're being asked to leave the club! Did nothing wrong but girl obviously doesn't take criticism...and all agreed misunderstanding when outside, but rules are
once your out your not allowed back in after 3am! So we had no choice but to go home! Some of the Aussie rules are so stupid!!! But still had a good night and prob best we left!
Moving onto Surfers Paradise tommorrow! can''t wait! Heard good things about it!
Woohoo!
Speak to ya soon!
Miss ya!
