Hello everyone

We had a fantastic trip to see Ayers Rock which was more impressive than I thought it would be.

We went with Mulga Tours which is part of Annies hostal where we stayed in Alice Springs. It was the cheapest we could find & I highly recommend them. Highly professional & efficient.

There were 2 mini buses full of guests & we were looked after by Scooter & Fiona. It was a long drive, but well worth it. We had several rest stops along the way, including visiting a camel farm where some of the girls on our trip went for a ride. We spent the afternoon at Kings Canyon which was fabulous. The colours of the rock formations were beautiful & we stoped off at the Garden of Eden water hole for a swim. It was a hard walk in 30 degree heat & lots of flies, but well worth it

Another long drive from there to our camp. Miles helped get some firewood & we all sat round eating our dinner round the camp fire. We slept in swags under the stars. (Swags are heavy duty sleeping bags with cushioned bottoms). It was lovely & very comfy & warm. Apparently we were visited by 2 wild dingoes early hours of the morning searching for food. Gutted I was fast asleep & missed them.

Day 2 we went to see the Olgas which were huge red rocks & very impressive. Another long walk in the heat of the day walking round a circuit on our own. Lovely.

That night we watched the sun set over Ayers Rock to our left & the Olgas to our right. The change of colours in the rock were incredible. The following day we walked round Ayers Rock. You could climb it if you wanted. Miles decided not to because it is the Aborigines sacred place & he wanted to respect their wishes. That didnt stop loads of other people doing it. Looked like really hard work & scary though!!

After breakfast we made our way home, dirty & exhausted & yes I had swollen legs & ankles. Great! It was a fabulous trip, so glad we did it.

We had 1 more day in Alice Springs & we went to a reptile centre so we could see the deadly snakes that everyone talks about. We got to hold a python too which was very exciting.

We flew back to Sydney for 1 night before heading off to Bangkok which is where we are now. Seems rather odd that 2 nights ago we were sleeping under the stars & peeing in the bushes & now we are in 5 star luxury!! (Miles belated birthday treat) No I am not complaining, its wonderful!

Overall I have thoroughly enjoyed Australia & can understand why loads of people emigrate out here. It has everything.

Top tips if you are coming out here:- Use the RSL clubs. They have really cheap drinks & meals. Learn the lingo! Thongs = flip flops. Pokies = fruit machines. Jocks = pants. Capsicum = peppers. Most of all pronouce booootiiiiiifooooool properly.

love M&M xxx
