Michael Jackson Star And so it begins, I have started a blog to answer some of the common questions, show you some pictures and keep in touch…and by keep in touch I mean this blog is not meant for you to just read and not comment on! No matter how ‘boring’ you think life is back home, I still want to hear about what you are up to as well!!
So here goes… I arrived in Sydney after a long 14 hour flight from LA. At the airport in LA I met up with a girl named Sue who I had met at the conference for USC before I came. We planned to meet in LA and fly together. Upon arrival in LA meeting up with her was no problem, she was STILL in the baggage claim after 2 hours of her flight’s landing b/c they lost her luggage. UGGG. Any way, we ventured off into LA on the metro (very sketchy I might add) for a $5 day pass and found Hollywood Blvd. We shopped and saw the Micheal Jackson star, then returned to the airport for our grueling flight. Luckily we both slept the first 10 hours, so it went by

Hollywood Blvd really fast! We arrived in Sydney at 6am on Wed and the city welcomed us with some rain! Lovely! We took a cab, checked into our hostel, then ventured out in the rain anyway. My first few days were tough as I was really missing home, but once I get the hang of the whole ‘traveling’ thing, I am now LOVING IT!!!
During my time in Sydney I saw many highlights including the Opera house, Harbor Bridge, the Royal Botanical gardens, Bondi Beach, Manly Beach and I even took a mini trip up to the Blue Mountains. After a week in Sydney, I decided to take the train to Brisbane and get to school, and Sue decided to stay with her friend who lives there for a few more days. More to come on my next train and school adventure soon!

Hey. Glad to hear that things are going well for you. Out of curiosity is it pronounced Manlee or manlay beach? Did you get to do any surfing? On Wednesday I went to pick up my new car. It is a mazda protege 5 hatchback, in white with black fabric interior, manual with power everything and a 6 disk cd player, a/c and the works. On Thursday I was asked to go to a Ford commercial shoot as they needed a High angle rescue person. The whole drive was 165km and it took me 13L of gas for the whole thing. Pretty happy about that. Hope you get in some more sight seeing before school starts. But don't have TOOO much fun!! Love Dan
