Steph and Opera House
This looks so fake, as if she's standing in front of a photo of the Opera House, but it's genuine. Well, arrived in Sydney on Monday evening to warm weather, although a little overcast. Like every big city, Sydney has a buzz of its own and was an interestin contrast to the relative serenity of Perth.
On the Tuesday morning we set off for our Harbour Bridge Climb - 3.5 hours of sheer pleasure! You pend the first 45 minutes being briefed and then 'suited up' into a space-age jumpsuit with lots of dangly gizmos and gadgets (I hated that, of course!).
We then spent the next 2 hours literally climbing over the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The views were just breathtaking, but due to safety restrcitions, no-one is allowed to take a camera (or anything at all) on the climb. However, the guide did take a few great shots, but I have to wait until we are back home before I can transfer them to my PC. Anyway, the experience is highly, highly recommended (although we both had achy legs after the 2m ascent!).
In the afternoon we took a ferry to Manly Beach, which seems to be the hot spot for surfers. Fantastic place, which we both thought Alex and Alana would love. Lots of
Our new pet!
These kangaroos were just great characters. young people having lots of fun... I think Steph felt a little left out but I, of course, felt right at home!!!
Today we went on our Blue Mountains Tour, an all-day affair that started at Featherdale Wildlife Park. I think the photos speak volumes about this place, where we could get up-close and personal with all of the indigenous wildlife. If Kyra had been with us, she would never have wanted to leave! Oh, by the way, both koalas and kangaroos have incredibly soft fur, in case you were wondering! Although both cute, I really, really liked the kangaroos. However, the attached menu might mean I turn vegetarian as a result!!
Due to the overcast weather, the Blue Mountains were shrouded in fog early on, but we managed to take a cable car higher up where we got some wonderful views. Most of this stuff has been captured on video - predictably - so still photos are restrictive, I'm afraid. I did let Steph have a go with the digital camera but the best one she did was the one with me and the koala you see here. I've started looking for a new wife with better
Koala Lumpar
It distresses the bears if you hold them, but you are allowed to gently stroke their fur. Very soft indeed! photographic skills...
Flying to New Zealand in the morning (Thursday) so will try and update next time I get internet access. However I don't expect to do so for 4 or 5 days.
