This is our traditional backpacker look.
Our next stop was Byron Bay! This is a small town on the eastern coast which is very popular with backpackers. It is so popular in fact, we could only get one night in the hostel. So, we left Yamba very early in the morning and arrived in Byron Bay by midmorning, thereby giving us as much time in Byron Bay as possible.
After settling into the hostel, we decided to check out the beach. Byron Bay is very popular with surfers, and sure enough, many people were out in the water enjoying the waves.

Byron Bay is the most easterly point of mainland Australia! Right near this point was a huge lighthouse on top of a hill. So, that evening, we decided to take the hour and a half trek along the beach and up the hill to the lighthouse. The path was steep and winding, but it was right along the ocean. We saw some stunning views! No dolphins though, unfortunately. Once at the top, we took many photos to commemorate being at the most eastern point of the mainland! We definitely needed a break at this point, but eventually needed to head back. Once back at the

We always try to take a few last minute pictures.
hostel, I took full advantage of the hostel pool. So nice to cool off after a few hours of climbing and walking in the heat. 😊

The next morning, we checked out of the hostel and, as our bus wasn’t until the late afternoon, we spent the day walking around town and enjoying the beach. We even watched Robocop with our fellow travelers in the hostel lounge.

When we took a closer look, we saw a little crab pop up and toss out a ball of sand! amazing!
