Bus Stop
At the bus stop before sunrise. Is that allowed? Our Greyhound bus on Friday left Coffs Harbour around 6am, which meant getting up much earlier to take a cab down to the bus stop. Very early day. But the bus ride was short, and we were in Yamba before we knew it.
Yamba was a really nice little town. The YHA hostel there seemed really new, which was awesome! And it was located right on the main street, rather than out of town like some other towns we had visited. The other thing was that it was pretty quiet too. You feel a little bad when a nice place isn’t getting very much business, but on the flipside it’s awfully nice when everything is super clean because it’s not very busy. Lol
When we checked in that morning, we went back to bed and napped the rest of the morning away. Lol We then checked out the strip for a place to grab some lunch. Weird thing I’ve noticed about traveling, every country seems to have its own size of soft drink can. Canada is 355ml, England was much smaller, and Australia is 375ml. Weird how that happens… Anyways, that afternoon we chilled out in the common room
Bus Ride
Construction always gets up bright and early. lol and watched Bondi Rescue, the one about Bondi Beach back in Sydney. Great show! A grim note though, the episode we watched actually had a drowning victim who wasn’t able to be rescued in time. It was extremely sad, and the reality about being careful when swimming in the ocean definitely sets in. That afternoon we checked out the local scenery and beaches, and took a nice stroll around the town.
Saturday we tried taking my mother’s advice, which was to try the local library for internet usage. Yamba was a good time to try it, since the library was just a couple of minutes away, and did in fact have free internet usage! Later that afternoon, Hillary and I thought we’d take in a movie and enjoy the small town atmosphere. We finally got to see Frost/Nixon, which we both thought was a great film! We enjoyed another nice little walk and started to pack up to continue our journey north, which would lead us to Byron Bay next.
