Dont really need a reason to put a photo of $300,000 Ferrari on the blog. I told the salesman I'd be back in a few years for it. He didnt laugh, he just politely asked me to leave. My apologies for having such a long delay in my latest entry, but I'm in Byron Bay right now and things just seem to move much slower here. This is another reason why you should just subscribe to my page, so that you know when I update the blog and arent dissapointed when you check and there's no new entry. Right now, I may be a little rattled with this entry as I just checked one of my stock prices for the first time in a couple months and found it to be 10X higher than when I bought it. I started freaking out and getting really excited, but after looking back at some of the news headlines, reality is that I have no more money than I did before. There was 10 for 1 stock buyback (so, for every 10 shares I had, I now have only 1)...boo earns. On a side note, what does it say about me that I check my fantasy hockey team about 100 times more frequently than stock quotes??
Anyways, I arrived back in Sydney and was shuttled to my hostel in a place called Kings Cross. This is a place where the number
Sydney
This is where I was staying in Sydney...nothing says Merry Christmas like a stroll by Porkys nite spot. of hostels are only outnumbered by the number of prostitutes and siringes on the street. The walks home at night, consist of being harrased by local "entertainers" and numerous drug users requesting money for food....although, there was one guy that had a sign that I saw that said "I'm not going to lie, I want money for booze"which I thought was quite clever......but not clever enough for me to give him any money. The weather in Sydney was dreadful and I didnt do all that much except meet up with some friends from Canada at night. I met up with the first person that I met on my trip back in October, who was on my flight into Sydney and still lives here, so we took a stroll in the park and when I looked up, I saw the BIGGEST bats I've ever seen in my life....so then I started looking down, and saw a number of rats....the next night up, I met up with a friend from McMaster who is working as a nurse and we went down to the beach near her house and on the way, I saw about 1000 cockroaches along the way. Sydney is actually
Byron Bay
I think this photo speaks for itself. I probably shouldnt have left it on for 45 minutes, as I spent the next 3 days being laughed at. one of the cleanest cities I've ever seen, so I don't want to give the wrong impression of it...but geez...get me out of here. It was time to hop on a 12 hour overnight bus ride up to Byron Bay where I was met by my cousin Sarah, who's taking a year off from University and enjoying the easy going life down under. She's travelling with her friend Dayna from Orangeville and the 2 of them quickly showed me how they've been spending the past month in Oz. I've now been here for 2 weeks. and will be staying here until just past new years. Our hostel used to be a family resort and has a pool its own little beach, a bar and a great cast of people that have been there a while and new visitors each day. Fortunately, because Sarah has been here long enough to be a local, she got me hooked up with a great rate of rent and half price surfboard rentals. When I got here, I was all about organizing this and that and worrying about the time, but in Byron Bay, there is no time as I was told to remove it
Relax
Friends...Avi and Dan just chillin. for my entire time here...so I did. While many of you at home are on a 9-5 routine, I thought that I would try and relate to you and document my 9-5 life. Essentially, this is how each of my days can be broken down in hourly intervals*
* 9am-stay in bed, there's no rush to get up yet.
* 10am-wake up, go for a joggg to the lighthouse which is about a 40 minute round trip run and very rewarding once you get there.
* 11am-make a big pancake breakfast
* noon- We all go to the beach, soak in the rays
*1pm- Surf
*2pm- Play frisbee at the beach
*3pm- Do some boogie boarding
*4pm- Go get some ice cream.
*5pm- Return to our sweet hostel, jump in the pool and then make a big feast
All hours are subject to change prior to the previous evenings festivities.
It doesnt really seem like there's all that much to do here, but somehow the days just fly by. The other night we hiked up to the lighthouse and I whipped up a nice dinner with my cooking set and watched the sunset, with some nice music
with Dayna's Ipod and speakers. It was definetly a dinner that I'll always remember.
My next entry will be all about X-mas and New Years here in Byron Bay....and I hope to do it sooner, rather than later.
