Day 5
Digby
Today we took a drive. The original plan was to Kayak the inner harbour and if it looked good to go outside and paddle up to Blue Rocks - but it was raining!! The water was calm but all our rain gear was in the car so we are not really able to adapt to to much. Sarah did get some shoes in Bridgewater so she is more comfortable walking. We headed south in the rain down to Liverpool and headed across the peninsula to Annapolis Royal. It was very much like N. Ontario rolling trees, bush and not much to see alongside the road. Annnopolis fort or Fort Royal, Fort Anne was cool with the Fort set out in a star pattern so each approach could be defended. We watched a young lass get dressed in period costume her and her commentator/maid had great fun getting dressed in petticoats and layer and corsets. Of course the men were looking forward to the undressing. But unfortunately she did this in private.

After this disappointment we headed up the valley a couple of Km to see the tidal power plant. Very cool it was suppose to be

a prototype but it worked so well they left it in. They couldn't add any more turbines because of the people upstream did not want their “lake” depth and shore line to vary too much. The turbine only runs on the out because of the issues with lake height up stream.

We headed down the coast and ended up in Digby for the night! The night before we looked on the internet and found a B&B for 64$ and a full breakfast. Called the Bayside Inn for Janice and Lindsey. The room had a shared bathroom but the room was really quaint and the morning breakfast was full!! For dinner we headed down to the waterfront and bumped into Susan and Ian? Whom we met at the Maplebird B&B in Lunenberg. We had dinner with them at a dinner style seafood place – it wasn't great so don't go. Dinners always seem to cost $50.00 but then we always have drinks. The wine here is all sweet and fairly decent but all the locals drink beer. The water front in Digby was interesting with ships being repaired. The tide is impressive at least 25 feet each night. Real-estate is really cheap you can buy waterfront property with a decent building for 250,000$. We could sell our place in Kamloops and move here and put money in the bank. Although I am not sure about the winters.
