Day 2 of our journey. We don't move too fast in the morning, no rush. We get the bikes pack up and are on our way. We stop in the big town of Hazelton, ND. Thought we would find a cafe to have breakfast. No luck. We stopped at a small gas station and had the breakfast of champions - Iced Tea, Diet Coke and a Snickers. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Visited with the owner of the gas station and then back on the bikes.
Our plan was to take the highway from Moffit over to 1804 and head into Bismarck. Of course, we did not see the highway at Moffitt. We pulled into the truck stop in Sterling, found out that the highway is called the Moffit Road. Who Knew, no signs to tell us it would lead to 1804.
We did have to spend a little time at the truck stop. I love checking out all the stuff at truck stops. We picked up a few more things for the Scavenger Hunt. Proof that Jack-a-lopes exist - a gold Jack-a-lope and a bag of droppings. Connie found a cowboy and asked for the Cowboy joke we need. Here is what
he came up with: Two cowboys walk into a bar, the third one ducked. Lame, but it worked. It also turned out that he was a singing cowboy. He left a CD on Connie's bike. The gals working gave us directions on getting to Bismarck without taking interstate, so we were on our way.
It was before we got to Bismarck that we got our cowpie and I got my road kill. That is what rubber gloves and zip lock bags are for. Poor Connie kept loosing me. I kept stopping to pick up the much needed items.
We pulled into Bismarck and stopped for gas. On our way, looking for Highway 6. Opps, we take the wrong turn, but we find the Roughrider Harley in Mandan. So you know, we have to stop. Look around and visit. We get directions and then are on our way again. Wouldn't you know we got directions for 1806 not 6. Turned around and we got ourselves back on track.
This was not the most exciting ride of the trip but, a place I have never been. We stopped in Flasher for a potty break and to give our back
ends a break. It's on to New Lipzeg for lunch. New Lipzeg -- an interesting town. The cafe is closed, the bar did not open until 4, so it was into the grocery store for pop and ice cream. Boy we are really sticking to our diets.
Our destination, Lemmon SD, is not far away. Our hotel is about the first thing we see, so we pull in the check in and unload the bikes. Nice hotel, nice rooms. I'm pretty sure it was mostly Bike Run ladies. We headed into town to registar and turn in our Scavenger Hunt items. We did get all of them. The Community Hall was the main meeting place. We had a few drinks and then met up with Sue and LaTina from Bismarck. They had supper for us there, which we were glad to see since we hadn't eaten a meal yet today. After supper we took the bikes back to the hotel. Friday night was Hippie night so we had to put our outfits on. We used biker bandana's and made outfits. I had a maxi dress, Connie had a top and then we made bell bottom jeans for her. A
wig, leather head bands and ro..ch clips for our hair. We were set. They even provided rides so we did not have to drive after drinking. Great idea.
We partied with the Bismarck girls. Had alot of fun. Then to end the night we sent Snipe Hunting. That was interesting.
Hailed a cab and back to the hotel. It was time.
