Memorial Day Weekend - Day 2

This morning Ed made it to the beach for some stretching and I made it to the picnic table to drink my tea. The girls got in their TV time while we grilled some French toast and then it was time for the activities to begin. I got my walk on the beach in while Ed took the girls to the pool. Then Daisy (Ed’s mom) joined us with homemade fried chicken (which is a favorite food group for both Jacquelyn and I).

As we were eating chicken, Danielle looked at Ed and asked why the hair on the side of his head was white. Amidst the laughter, she got a response that it was mature blonde. Now, Jacquelyn was not going to let that pass so Ed got a comment back along the lines that he wasn’t mature, he was old. Ed tried again by saying he was in great shape and could ride his bike for miles to which he was greeted by the comment that old people really do need to exercise. I was laughing too hard to be of much help but I think Ed was probably glad of that as I probably would have egged the girls on even more.

The remainder of our stress filled day was devoted to sand castles, boogie boarding, another trip to the glorious Mecca CAMPING WORLD SUPERSTORE, and of course the requisite mini golf (I believe it is a city toll and all families traveling to Myrtle Beach are required to play).

You know it is a good day when you finish it off with ice cream sundaes at Friendly’s and your youngest falls asleep in the car on the way home with a straw in her mouth.
