Overall, or well to sum it up, this trip was great for the family and quite doable for my business. I must give a great deal of credit to Lori. She organized most of it and catered to my job. I was able to stay busy with calling on customers via email, the phone, or and visits. The only problem I experieinced with the cell card for email or the cell phone was in Yellowstone. For that, I just took my vacation during that time. With the great organization, it became quite balanced. I enjoyed going out to see customers during the day and then coming back to the RV at night to be with them. We found a great many things about ourselves and our relationships. We became closer, decided to get away from each ... read more

The irony is not lost on me as I sit here, 2 -3 hrs from home, finally finding the campsite experience I sought the length of the summer. With wine in my hand, my husband on my right, my best friend on my left, and a fire at my feet; I sit before a beautiful flowing bold river which makes that special kind of music that only rushing water can. If you are wondering where I stuffed the kids, the cable here works and they got a bit of that and then it was to bed while we enjoyed the night, the water, and each other. The campgrounds only amenity is the river but it sits on a beautiful stretch of the French Broad River and that is enough for Ed and I. The kids are ... read more

It’s been awhile since the last update but we have been living in civilization quite normally which isn’t as bloggable as the rest of the summer has been. I am not sure that anyone cares as much as we are taking regular showers, eating at tables in kitchens, and shopping in places that actually have stuff. In fact, it has been two weeks of semi normal living (if you count the frequent trips out to the RV to get something we need that we forgot to bring in). We started this stretch in Columbus Ohio visiting with my cousin and her family (3 kids and one spouse who spent the week playing in the World Series of Poker in Las Vegas). I also have another cousin (2 kids and a spouse who was not at the ... read more

We pulled into the Wisconsin Dells in time to get the RV ready and dinner cooking. We were a little disappointed in the campground as I was going for scenic and got a cross between Myrtle Beach and Coney Island. It is a ways out of town which was the plan as I thought it would be quieter; I did not count on I-90 and the train that run right by it. We ate dinner and then the kids played in the pool. We are close to it and one of the benefits we did find was that we could relax by the RV and they could swim. This gave us a needed break and we just sat outside and mellowed. It is actually pretty warm and humid here, surprisingly so. After an afternoon thunderstorm it ... read more

There is not much to write about 10 hour drives that start at 2:30pm except that you can make it faster with Western speed limits. The scenery at the beginning was pretty and as we were driving on Saturday both of us could drive. That being said, we arrived in Hill City SD at 11:00pm on Saturday night. When we awoke, it was to an already very hot sunny morning at the J Bar Ranch Campground. We gave ourselves a break and just hung around the campground (most of my earlier catch up blogs that didn’t happen in the Virginian laundry room happened here). Ed took the kids to the nice swimming pool and we just hung around because we all had pretty low energy levels. It seemed too warm to go to Mt Rushmore so ... read more

This was the first time I pulled out without Ed so I took my time making sure I got most of it done correctly. It seemed to go well and before to long I was ready to roll. I drove down to the Virginian RV resort which was on the outskirts of Jackson and Nancy went to check out some things to do. I hooked up quickly and we soon met her for lunch at the organic bakery where we all had yummy stuff. It was to be a town day so we headed off to a kids maze and bungee jump near the Snow King Ski area. The kids had fun (after a while as there was a quite a bit of frustration on one of my kids part) and the weather grew warmer and ... read more

We pulled into Colter Bay by 11am. Ed and I had a really nice quiet drive as we let the kids sleep in our bed when we pulled out. We have done this periodically over the summer and it works out nicely as we get a few quiet hours to enjoy the scenery and they get the extra sleep which they seem to need. We saw lots of wildlife but didn’t choose to stop. The coolest was when we saw an entire herd of buffalo in a valley, dozens if not up to a hundred. The views on the way down were terrific, mountains and lakes, valleys and flowers. We explored Colter Bay Village as the site wasn’t quite ready when we got there. Our campground was on Jackson Lake, there was a nice marina for ... read more

I had been wondering when I posted the last one where all of the pictures were. I did find them, but a little late so here is the final Yellowstone wrapup. We also have an additional blog entry from Ed as he had not been with us to add to the talk until recently. Photos: Danielle and Nicole in their Rock Shop at the Canyon Village Campground Getting the Junior Ranger Badges at Yellowstone A friend who joined us for breakfast at Canyon Village Quiet…. Junior Artists at work Roosevelt Country Cookout (Chuckwagon and horse rides) From Ed: After the great Roosevelt Chuckwagon Cookout, ( great food) we turned right out of the parking lot around 9:00 PM. Due to the time difference and being farther north, it was still light out. Right after the turn ... read more

Our first day in Canyon village was a treat for me as Ed and Alan agreed to take the kids to a Junior Ranger program while Shannon, Nancy and I got to go hiking. We took off early and had the trails mostly to ourselves. We drove the North Rim of the Canyon and took hikes down to the waterfalls at all available spots. It was beautiful and magical and we all just enjoyed the scenery, each other, the birds, the flowers and the morning. Yellowstone Canyon and Falls is definitely my favorite place in the park and it was great to see it his way. We met up with the guys and kids at Artist Point and then took the South Rim Trail to see the other side of the Canyon. The kids all made ... read more
