WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 21, 2007
Just getting home on Sunday, it was hard to believe we were all packed and ready to conquer the east coast. We had a busy 2 1/2 days in Colorado. Our nanny, Becca, stayed with us again, which made it so much easier. On Monday I headed down to Canon City for the day to check up on my parents, where my mom is recovering from hip surgery and my dad is dealing with radiation seeds for his cancer, so it was time for a visit. They are amazing and both doing just great. Since there was no school on Monday, Jessica had a fun day with her girlfriends and a couple guy friends. They went to the mall, played lazer tag, enjoyed an intajuice and hung out at our house for hours. Tanner joined in the fun too. Emma went to prechool on Tuesday to play with Miss Mary and all of her friends.

Our flight left at 7:50am, so we were up and ready to leave Franktown by 5:45 and at the airport by 6:30. Luckily, there was not a line at the southwest skycap

so our check-in was easy. After getting to the terminal, we found that our flight was delayed, so we went in search of food. Ty brought us all a gourmet breakfast of egg sandwiches and breakfast burritos. Yummy. On the plane we picked our seats and settled in for a 3 hour flight. We had a short layover in Baltimore, where Ty got local and bought some "crab chowder", which is similar to clam chowder. Crab is big here in Blatimore and the chowder was pretty tasty. Back on the plane for a 48 minute flight into Providence Rhode, Island. Our first long travel day went absolutley fantastic.

When we arrived at the Providence airport I called my brother Kevin, who is working here, and he met us all at baggage claim. I hadn't seem my brother in over a year, so it was a nice reunion.Jessica and Tanner are now experts at retrieving all the luggage, they could earn great money someday. Excitement was high for the kids to see their cousins. Kevin and his wife Amy have 3 children, Emily 7, Gracie 4, and Jackson 3. Ty, Jessica, Emma, and Lilly had never met 3 year old

Jack, so uncle Kevin took the older 3 kids to Mystic, Connecticut to meet them. The rest of us headed to New Port, Rhode Island to check into our house and meet up with everyone at Kevin's house for dinner.

Providence to Newport is a good 35 minutes, but with great directions, the ride went quickly and Lilly was able to take a snooze. Once at the house, we will call home for the next 2 weeks, we unloaded all the luggage, got a brief tour from our concierge, Andrew and made our way to Mystic. Since we don't know our way around, we took the longest possible route to get there and it took us 1 1/2 hours. It was similar to taking Academy from Colorado Springs into Canon City. There were many stoplights, too much traffic and we went through lots of little towns. We noticed a Dunkin Doughnuts and Tim Hortons on just about every street corner. When we drove into Mystic, Ty was counting on me to find my brother's house, since I had been there a half dozen times. After a quick phone call to my brother to make sure I was headed in

the right direction, I was able to get us to his home with only 1 wrong turn. Pizza and salad were waiting for us on our arrival. I hadn't seen Jack since he was 1 and now he is almost 4, running around, talking, what a cutey he is. Kevin's girls are fun and cute too. We ate and talked about the plans for the weekend.

We hated to eat and run, but Kevin's kids had school in the morning and our kids were anxious and jet lagging to see our home. After the long journey here, we decided to take a different route in the dark and got completely disoriented and a little bit lost. Ty is usually the master at knowing which way to go everywhere, but driving in the dark in this unfamiliar place made the driving a bit more challenging. Tomorrow we hope to get familiar with where we are.

THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 22-SUNDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2007
On Thursday, we slept in a little, did school work, took a tour of the Carnegie Abbey, which is where we are staying. We have a house all to ourselves, a clubhouse with a neat game room, a

spa, an exercise room and a golf course. We are right on beautiful Nargansett Bay in New Port. It is really slow this time of year so pretty much have the place to ourselves. Then we decided to get to know Newport. We got directions to the downtown area, which is all located on the water. Washington Square is an old historic distric with old buildings and quaint stores. We had a nice lunch with yummy clam chowder at The Black Pearl Tavern. We were going to walk the town, but Lilly was crabby and tired and it started to rain, so we headed back to the house to finish school work.

Friday had us doing school work, getting some exercise and getting ready to drive back to Mytic to see Uncle Kevin and our cousins again. We were so excited because cousin Emily invited us to her school sock hop. We took a different route to Kevins, crossed into Massachusettes, then into Connecticut. It is amazing how quickly you can cross into another state in this part of the country. We went from Rhode Island, through a little of Massachesettes and into Connecticut in a short amount of

time. Kevin and Amy had "grinders" and pizza waiting for us. Grinders are sub sandwiches and they are very popular here. They are my favorite sub sandwich and impossible to duplicate, believe me I try after every visit. Pizza is also popular here, there is a famous pizza place on every block. We walked to Emily's school, which was directly behind her house. We had fun dancing, eating Cold Stone Creamery icecream, doing the hoola hoop contest, listening to live 50's music and meeting some of Emily's first grade friends. Jessica, Tanner and Emma were invited to spend the night, so off me, Ty and Lilly went back to Newport for the night.

Saturday was to be a very busy day. We were woken up by our sweet little Lilly wondering where her brother and sisters were. We showered, dressed, loaded in the minivan and made our way once again into Mystic. When we arrived at Uncle Kevin's he was on his way out to Build-A-Bear for Emily's 7th birthday. We, quick changed the kids, ate some Dunkin Doughnuts, and made our way to the Waterford Mall for the party. Emily's party was tons of fun. We met all

of her little girlfriends and all had fun stuffing, naming and dressing our bears. Then we sang Happy Birthday to Emily, ate cake and watched her open her presents. What a treat it was for us to be included in this special day. Back at Kevin's I babysat all the kids while Kevin gave Ty a quick tour of Mystic and Amy ran to the grocery store. When the adults got home, we put Jessica in charge and went to a dinner party at a neighbors house. We enjoyed some fine wine, good food and had fun with Kevin and Amy's hilarious east coast friends. Since we got home so late, we decided to spend the night. It was cute how all 7 kids were sleeping on the living room floor.

Sunday morning Jack had us up early wondering where all his cousins were. My sense of smell took me directly to the coffee pot for some pick me up. All the kids were already back in the basement playing. Kevin was cooking up some meatballs and homemade pasta sauce, the place smelled great. Aunt Amy fed the kids a yummy waffle breakfast. Emily had guitar lessons, so while

her and Amy were doing that, Uncle Kevin drove us all around Mystic. It is a neat, historic and very charming town. A lot of the really old houses have the year they were built, some of the were built in the 1700's, now that is old. We picked up Amy and Emily, loaded up 2 minivans and headed to Newport, with the pasta sauce. Uncle Kevin wanted to check out where we were staying. So we let the kids play, while the pasta sauce cooked. Kevin brought some homemade raviolis that he made a couple months ago to have for our Sunday feast. What a great homemade dinner we had. Kevin and his family headed back to Connecticut after dinner. We were sad to see them go, but they will return on Thursday to spend the entire weekend with us and we can't wait. We need to get caught up on school work.....
