The hotel we were staying at one of the best free breakfast's that we had on the entire trip, me and Harv took loads of the bacon which is perfectly crispy and much better than what we usually get back in the UK. It was about 30 minutes to Philadelphia from the hotel and upon entering the city 8 lanes of traffic merged into 2 so that you could drive over the bridge and into the city, this is something that definitely needs to be redesigned at some point! We drove around the city for quite a while until we were finally able to find a car park and it was really expensive. As Philadelphia was one of the key cities to the American independence there was some great historical things to learn about. We started ... read more

It's been quite an amazing chapter of my life spending the past 3.5 years out in Philly and it's suburbs. I've become a yoga teacher, fallen in love, created new friends, lived out of my car, been an AirBnB host, survived a broken heart, seen a ton of music, explored a plethora of parks....the list is endless. As each year of my life passes I think to myself, "Now that was the most full year of my life!" and it's so exhilarating to think that maybe I'll be saying the same thing next year. Up and up and beyond my wildest dreams! Right now I'm sitting in a café where I used to spend 6 hour stints as I remotely worked my 9-5 office job. Today I'm here completely unemployed and sitting next to a bag ... read more

Geo: 39.8735, -75.2423The weeks leading up to a big vacation are always such chaos. By the time you hit the airport, you feel like you need a vacation, which is what your doing, yet deep in the recesses of your mind .... Cmon .... We all know how stressful vacations can be. Especially when you have to fly. Even more so when that flight is an overnight international flight.Well, this trip wasn't like that at all. My buddy Tim ... You'll meet him here in a few. He flies ... Like all the time for work flies. He flies more than some pilots I know. No ... Really. He spends so much of his life in a plane, I feel like I should give him a Top Gun type air jock handle like "Shooter" or "Renegade." ... read more

... read more
Lost in Philadelphia

Sitting here in the Philly airport waiting for my flight to take off. It's been a whirlwind weekend so far and I'm looking forward to hopefully sleeping on the plane! It was such a joy getting to see two of my best friends from college get married yesterday and I'm glad I delayed my trip a few days to make it but man, am I exhausted! I'll be arriving in Dublin at 8:45AM their time and will be going straight to the conference as I can't check into my guesthouse until 3PM. It's supposed to be partly cloudy and 70 degrees in Ireland tomorrow...perfect weather! Alright, I better finish charging my phone, set up my Brits water bottle, and stretch my legs before my long flight! ... read more

Today was all about the Philadelphia Zoo. I was lucky enough to have a great tour guide in Donna who allowed me access to a behind the scenes area to meet an almost 2 year old male red panda named Khumbie and his keeper, Christina O'donnell. Khumbie is a very sweet boy who came this past winter from the Erie Zoo and is getting ready to be introduced to one of the Philadelphia Zoo's other red pandas, Spark, as a breeding partner. Spark currently has two cubs who are about a year old and getting ready to be moved to other zoos. The zoo also has two older females on exhibit, Mei Lin and JJ who are both around 14 years of age. These red pandas can be seen on exhibit in Carnivore Kingdom, a rock ... read more

Well here we are in the Admirals Club at Philly airport. We will consider this the beginning of the adventure. We have a five hour layover before oor flight to Madrid but not complaining because the admirals club is comfy and also as we are flying first class ( oh course what would you expect of the queen) the top shelf drinks are complimentary .mjust gotta say I really like flying on Holidays the planes and airports are less full so all has been tranquil. This morning before we left Harrisburg I received a text from Adela in Madrid . She was concerned because she had not heard from us. Seems she thought we would be arriving this morning and had the entire crew ready to be with us tonite. She decided to Check her email ... read more

At last the day of departure has arrived and on this Monday, 17 August 2015, we took leave of our darling grand daughters and headed for the Raleigh Durham Airport (RDU). To make this get away we first had to load the bags and backpacks in the Veracruz along with Emily and drive to the Triangle Montessori School to pick up Madeline. Her daddy had packed a lunch and the girls would have lunch at the airport while watching the planes come and go. As a birthday/departure gift, son James, made a lovely wrist band with black and white photos of both girls that I now wear and can see as I move my arms with the poles while walking. What a great send off! Our flight from RDU departs at 1540 but since we could ... read more
