romatic dinner
this is are deli sandwich + wine dinner This trip was taken may 2005.
We scored these package deals @ $450 usd for flight and a 4 star hotel from los angeles for 4 nights. The main concern was to get to the Yankee game!
Upon our arrival we take a shuttle from JFK Airport and then they make us transfer to this huge bus! If you've ever been to the city theres 10 thousand cars with only 2' of space. Its very tight and to see a bus drive in the city is amazing. Our bus ride literally lasted 3 blocks! We had no idea where we were and we could of walked easily but instead we paid $5 for a 3 block ride to the U.N. Hotel on 1st and 42nd i belive, right on the east river.
We settle in and immediatly go out for some adventures, we kind of just wander around and immediatly find the United Nations building. We look around a bit it's kinda cool and security makes me put my shirt back on lol. Next we eat at the hotel and regroup to go out. At this time i was dating my x and she has a routine that
chrysler buidling
on our long walk home take 29 hours to get ready to go out at nights. I go out venturing while i'm waiting just walking the streets and see this little blonde girl singing in this bar. I go in this small dive bar to watch her and she ends up being the local irish kareokee host. I drink a pint of guiness while observing the kareokee as i write some thoughts down in my jounal. I finish my beer and start to walk out...The irish girl immediatley gets on the mike and says "where are you going? your not leaving us without singing a song!" I agree so she makes me sing a song up on stage! I have to admit this is my first sober kareokee experience singing garth brooks to a group of new yorkers. As soon as i heard from a girl he's so cute i felt like a little boy on stage and felt my cheeks getting red. But i did get released finally from the dive bar jail from our infamous host.
29 hours later.....IWe go back to this bar i had a great solo time at; everybody is so nice here. The bartender was super cool; some
times square
oh ya went to time square! italian looking guy in his mid twenties. i think he was drunker than we got. I dance with huge women bumping butts with them singing songs. When all of a sudden this mid 30's man in a pink polo comes up to me and states "hey we don't like californian's here." He kind of reminded me of that main character from office space. I look at him and we have a stand off for 5 seconds which seems like an eternity. Then all of a sudden he busts up laughing and gives me a gigantic hug lol. It was quite a cool place right around the corner from The UN hotel. We then catch a ride to Greenich Village to check the bars. We were totally wasted by this time and we had a slice of pie at the corner then stumble in the bar. We stay there for like an hour then head back to the hotel. We are walking through the lobby when all of a sudden she gets sick and pukes all over the lobby! haha..4 star hotel what?
The next day we hop on the subway to the bronx to catch the yankee game. We
yankee game
in right field yankee stadium had to sit in right field but it was nothing less than magical. SO much history in the stadium and the famous chant "lets go yankess!" (We met a couple on the subway that recommended a comedy club which we indulged in that night.) One thing that sticks out in my mind was all the people in the streets walking to the game. Its not like CA baseball games where theres a huge parking lot and a stadium. Outside is a plethera of bars and food joints as well as vendors. This one guy in a yankees uniform just kept walking around yelling red sox suck! red sox suck! and they were playing the mariners lol. just shows you the rivarly between the 2 teams..Red sox suck haha.
My nightly routine was to go down to the local deli get a bottle of wine and 2 turkey and avocado sandwiches and bring them to the hotel. We would have a gourmet shoestring dinner on the 34th floor in our room over looking the city with sites such as the chyrsler buidling and empire state building lit up in the background. Not such a bad backdop aye. After our romantic
from the roof
snuck onto to roof of the hotel to get this shot dinner we went to check out the comedy club. i think it was caled the comedy cellar. We walk up and ask the guy outside this building is this the comedy cellar. He's all ya come in.. 5 minutes later after dreadful comedy we figure u know this isn't the place. We finally find it and it was truly a cellar! There was luckily an all-star line-up featuring dave atel, a variety of comedy central comedians and a special appearance from damian waynes. This was like a wed. night in NY. Wow!! I think it was $20 or so i forget but damn it was a good time!
The next day we took the subway again to see some of the sites. We ate at canargi deli which was $$$ but good. we're talking like $15 a sandwhich. We next went down to ground zero to check out the remains. Somehow we get confused and a little lost. The subway to ground zero was a little confusing. We miss our stop and decide to get off. I get off first and look back and the subway doors close right between us and i'm stuck outside while she is stuck
central park zoo
so cool you have to go! inside! plus i have everything, water, money, her i.d. everything. Quickly i go above ground and run through china town to the next stop. Run down and she's nowhere to be found...i then ride the s.way to the next main transfer point and wait there for 15 minutes and no sign of her. I then just take the s.way back to the hotel figuring she went back since you can ride anywhere in manhattan on the same ticket. I get up there and she's not there! 10 minutes later she rolls in the hotel all pissed off! haha whoops.
That night instead of the deli we go to little italia to have some din din. It was so cool! everything was painted italy colors even the parking meters and we have a great dinner and the wait staff was so friendly and nice. We then decide to go for a walk. A long walk we end up walking all the way home from little italy. From the lower east side all the way to mid-town in the middle of the night. i think we got home like at 2am. it was a long one but we got to see
central park
amazinly huuuuuge cool sites! from some neat little parks to the chysler buidling.
Next day we were leaving but for some reason i wanted to go to staton island. We hit the ferry and are running short on time and pretty much run to the harley davidson shop to get souveniers for our families..i scramble for a cab to get us back and we are seriuosly running everywhere to make it. We finally get to our hotel catch a cab to the airport and this cab driver guy was on crack. he kept hitting his brakes and honking and there was nobody even near us. he did it the whole way he was making us sick. We nicknamed him "brakes"...Alright man thanks brakes!
that was our little fun adventure! best city in the US!!! Oh i skipped Central park and the Central Park zoo! that was a lot of fun also and is a must. Its crazy the size of this park you can literally get lost(not like i did or anything haha). A great time and adventure!!
thanks for reading......
