Geo: 35.0841, -106.649The last drive was uneventful as has been the whole trip. We made it by 1:00 and stopped at Vinaigrette for lunch before going home. We have had a wonderful time on this 3,840 mile trip. The best part was getting to reconnect with Ruth's side of the family that we hadn't seen in years. They expect to get together again next year, but in the autumn when it will be cooler. We plan to go then, too.Phil has some new information to enhance his research and more leads to follow now. While we were at the family reunion, Louella kindly loaned Phil an antique math notebook that she had which belonged to one of the relatives. It is mostly handwritten notes on mathematical instructions and formulas probably written as a study aid in ... read more

Geo: 35.0841, -106.649We've had a lot of fun on this trip, seen new places, made new friends, and visited with old ones. Our last drive home was uneventful. We arrived home before the afternoon traffic in Albuquerque got too bad. The house is hot; I turned the a/c off while we were gone.Favorite things this trip: Seeing great old friends, Brad and Jeanine. Spending time with family that we don't see often. Meeting new friends at the workshop. Having a castle all to ourselves for two days. Staying in apartments as much as possible. Friendly Irish people. Walking all over Cork. Seeing churches and areas where our ancestors probably lived. ... read more

Day 1 - Atascadero, CA to Kingman, AZ We left the house only a little later than planned and started heading east. Once we hit Barstow CA, we did a lot of reminiscing about our Route 66 Trip 4 years ago. If you are interested in that trip, read it's blog . Our goal today was Kingman, AZ. These first few days will be mostly driving as we try to get to somewhere we haven't been before. The highlight of the day was stopping for lunch at a Long John Silver's in Barstow where Tony created a perfectly beautiful ketchup cup for Anne. The KOA in Kingman, AZ is very nice if you are headed out that way. we set-up camp, hit the pool, made dinner, and relaxed with a few games. Day 2 - Kingman, ... read more

The wind was rocking the RV last night. We are sitting on the top of the West Mesa, which is completely unprotected by anything. We have a beautiful view of the Sandia Mountains and can see for miles. It was an early start this morning. We decided to take the Rail Runner Express train from Montana, just a few miles outside downtown Albuquerque into Santa Fe. Incredible views of the Sandia’s, as we cut through the open Indian reservations filled with Cattle, horses and the odd jackrabbit hopping over the rustic plains. This truly felt like the Wild West and I expected to see Cowboys and Indians charging alongside us. I couldn’t hear the conductor tell us we couldn’t take pictures as we passed through the Indian reservations but apparently he did. Adobe houses littering the ... read more

Geo: 35.0841, -106.649We had a car and driver reserved for the trip from the InterContinental to the airport in Sydney. I am glad that we did. When we went downstairs to leave, there was a long line to check out and lots of people in the lobby either waiting for transportation or waiting for their rooms. Another cruise ship had arrived and some of its passengers were ready to check into the hotel. I had filled out the card for self-checkout, which I was glad about. Just dropped the card in the slot and sat to wait for our car. Paula Kay booked the ride for us, and the concierge there reconfirmed it for us at check in asking to move the time up by thirty minutes. After seeing traffic in Sydney, I wanted to leave ... read more
