The day started with a styrofoam breakfast at the Diamond Inn Motel in Villa Ridge (MO) and went straight to the Meramec Caverns in Stanton. The caves were known as a Jesse James hideout but nowadays they should be visited for their amazing mineral formations. We stopped in Lebanon for lunch but the place our guidebooks told us to check out was closed until further notice ... the alternative actually was better ... the year they still write is 1965 ... for sure! Great experience and friendly faces. Next stop : Exotic Animal Paradise .... a drive trough animal zoo where you can feed everything from goats to Zebras. It was hilarious but our safari ended with a flat tire. But no worries, we called our road service and a nice guy came to change the ... read more

This is still one of my favorite cities and that says a lot since I am not a city girl. I was in Springfield (here) before last year for a press trip and they invited me (us) back. Folks are very friendly and lots of nice things to see and do here and they have a great sense of community plus it's a city but has a warm small town feel. (here on Route 66) Yesterday we went to Mansfield, MO and visited the Laura Ingalls Wilder historic homestead and farm and cemetery which I had seen last year and is very charming and beautiful and the museum is spectacular there. It was a nice cool day like today in the 70's and low 80's for a change---nice break from heat and humidity. Last night we ... read more

Here we are up in the Missouri Ozarks seeing shows in the SHOW ME STATE. We stayed in Poplar Bluff after leaving Kentucky a few days ago and then we arrived in Branson day before yesterday. We wound through Tennessee, Kentucky again and finally Illinois before crossing the Mississippi and into Missouri day before yesterday. Our first show here was the Liverpool Legends show which is of course a Beatles show and was actually superb and I'm not even a Beatles fan. George Harrison's sister was a guest and it was very cool while she told the audience stories and answered questions. The next day (yesterday) we saw the big Broadway show for a matinee. It was great. Then last night we saw Branson's oldest show of 50 years, The Baldknobbers, which had relatives of the ... read more

Alas! Finally my search for a ticket to Japan is compleate! I must say, of all the times I have traveled outside the U.S. this has by far been the hardest one to find a ticket for. I think maby it was more because I had a certain time that I had to be there by and a period of days set if I didnt want to try and find my way to the college after ariving there for the first time. Kansai Gaidai sends a Limo Bus to pick you up but they will only do pick ups at certain times on certain days. The day that I wanted to arrive on would be Aug. 29th. So where I would be flying into would be the Kansai Airport and the Limo bus will pick up ... read more

Last time I said that I wasnt going to post anymore blogs until I had gotten a letter from Kansai Gaidai on my being accepted/rejected. I lied. Although this will slightly relate to it since just about everything that I think of anymore, can in some way relate back to Kansai Gaidai. Im telling you this obsession of mine cant be good for my health. So in case you havent figured it out yet, I have not gotten anything from Kansai Gaidai as to weather I have been accepted. Though I did take the advice of my one teacher whom sent in his letter late and sent the school an email to see if all of my stuff had arrived on time. Turns out I didnt need his letter because I got a reply back saying ... read more

The reason I decided to write this (other than the fact that its spring break and I have nothing better to do until I go to work and my legs are doing their stupid hurttng thing that they have been doing since I was a kid...I really need to get that checked out...so I cant go run until that dies down) is because My deadline for my application to study abroad in Japan is finally up! This means that sometime between now and April 15 I should be informed as to weather or not I got in! Yay! But as it turns out I THINK most of my stuff got turned in. I say this because I had to actually give recommendation letters to some of my professors and they had to mail them in. I ... read more
